  • Phillies 27-22. Need to get better...

    ...

LIEBERTHAL, ROLLINS, Hernandez, Millwood, Wooten and Cormier can all kiss my ass.

They are playing terrible right now.

Utley is real nice and soon THOME will just get red hot and put us in a 10 game win streak by himself.

I am not happy that we are playing .500 ball vs. New York and Atlanta right now...Need to pummel them.

This team is not going anywhere. They are way too inconsistent, Bowa is too emotional as a manager, and Ed Wade will not make a significant high risk trade in order to make the team any better. The team is packing CPB, and that's all the front office wants to see. As long as they are competitive, that equals success.

You can't win with Byrd, Lieberthal, and Rollins hitting under .235.

But...BUT...If THOME, Burrell and Wagner all get red hot this team can go on a streak.

I mean they are in the thick of things and I feel like they've played real mediocre ball to date.

The bottom of the lineup doesn't scare anyone either. Everything I know about the Phils comes from playing ESPN MLB but up and down, only Thome and Burrell do any damage.

Getting Thome was the best move by the Phils in a long time. But I feel like it's the same as Iverson's early years. You can only do so much with one person even if you do pack the house. (Although I hear Thome doesnt mind practice.)

They've been god awful against the Mets, Braves and Marlins, our major enemies within the NL East. If you cannot succeed against these teams, you aren't going to win.

I was really suspicious of this team before the season started. I didn't even want to hazard a guess on how they would play becuase I had a gut feeling they were going to be really inconsistent. This team could be 81-81 or they could be 90-72. But the bats look like crap, Thome is hitting .140 with RISP, and if David Bell goes down (I can't believe I'm saying this), we are really in trouble. He's been hitting .285 and we don't have a real third sacker behind him.

Rollins should be sent down to SWB for a few weeks to work on his swing. I don't care if he has range from the Atlantic Ocean to the coast of Namibia, he cannot hit in the big leagues to save his life.

The starting pitching has been shaky, and the expensive and ancient bullpen has already been crippled by the loss of Wagner, the implosion of Hernandez, the return to form of Cormier, and the revolving cast of AAAA retreads. Thank God Madson has come through, but I fear Bowa is going to blow him out before long.

This team is not built for long term success. They are, however, talented but streaky. If they can sneak into the playoffs, they have a shot. They also have a crap load of money available in the offseason if Millwood, Milton and Wagner do not re-sign. I think Cormier may be a free agent as well.

Well, it is still early in the season. The key is to stay competitive and get red hot at the end of the year. Remember that Florida started like crap last year. I'd rather be Florida than the Braves of many years that'd race out to 15 game leads and then lose in the playoffs.

Don't panic yet. We need Wagner back though.

              Vic,

I'm not panicking yet. I just don't beleive this team is set up correctly to win. The bats are way too inconsistent. There is no leadoff hitter, Bowa is already using Glanville instead of Byrd. Rollins is an anchor at the plate.

I wasn't sold on this line up before the season and they haven't done anything to change my feelings. This team will go score 13 runs per game for a week and then become Ethipopian and starve to socre three runs a game for the next two.
