No offense, but whoever wrote the 49ers column is kind of jackass. Its not that the team doesn't care, its that they are in complete salary cap-hell right now.

News flash. They HAVE been in complete salary cap-hell for YEARS. They are ALWAYS in complete salary cap-hell. This is just being used as a exuse for being cheap. You can call me a jackass all you want. The team COULD have gotten more. I've talked to people inside the 49ers team. John York and Terry Donahue are more concerned about the budget than winning. Mooch was the coach and Bill Wash was the GM, the team was in complete salary cap-hell, and they still WON. It is a fact, pure and simple...

Living in SF, I agree with JBurn. The fanbase and the org seem to have this attitude of "well, we were a dynasty a few years ago... oh well."
By the way, this should be posted as a comment to the article. In either case, I'm glad people care.

That's it! That's what I mean. Not so much the fan base as the the ownership and management though...

There is a difference between having a couple good players on your team and having no money to get more and having no good players on your team and having no more money to get more. Thats where they are at now, they didn't have a chance to grab anybody in the past, but they at least had some talent. Now, they still don't have the money to grab FA's, but they're talent is gone. Besides, I bet you're on of those guys who jumped on the Rattay bandwagon after a couple games last year.
Guru, sorry I didn't know about posting replies on the article.

Nope, I supported Garcia till the day he left. I am a Rattay supporter now though over Dorsey. You know nothing of me. And little about the Niners. Anyway, they did have chances to bring in more players. Most of the good players you talk about who were already on the team, where did they come from? They were brought in when team was ALREADY in cap hell. You are simply wrong. Walsh and the Mooch were able to get about fine. Look, people around York and T-Don are the first to tell you they are more worried about making money than winning. As a staff writer for 49ersNews.com and a former on air reporter for Pro Football Central, I have some contacts and have been able to talk with a few people.
Besides, how the hell do you get off saying I jumped on the Rattay wagon? Again, you clearly know nothing of me and you should not speak up about things that you know nothing of...
