What positive qualities does this guy have that justify his being a manager of a MLB team.

He is strikingly unimpressive in person. He may not actually be a stupid, but he certainly creates that impression.

I'm not very impressed by his skills as a field manager. He often seems asleep at the switch.

He certainly doesn't seem to be the kind of guy (like Green or Bowa) that's capable of lighting a fire under a team which
has been sleep walking for almost a month.

So I'm asking seriously. Does Charlie really have some strengths that I'm missing?

Supposedly players like playing for him and he is a great motivator. :suspicious:

That's about all that I've heard and can appreciate.

His in game decisions are average at best and probably cost the team 6-8 games a year.

But considering the string of really bad managers they've had (or that didn't work out here), I think that they are sticking with the devil they know. As long as they are competetive and the $$$ keeps rolling in.
