  • Lawlor: Case Against Andy

    http://igglesblitz.com/philadelphia-...ing-andy-reid/

He will also present the Case For Andy later.

    EXCERPT:
Conclusion "... Andy Reid has a tremendous track record. No one disputes that. Unfortunately, the skills he used to build up that record no longer seem to be present. He hasn’t made great hires. He doesn’t seem to have the pulse of the team. He hasn’t done a good job of pushing buttons to get the team going. You wouldn’t consider him to be innovative or creative based on recent years. Rather than making the most of what he’s got to work with, Reid now delivers a mediocre product made from some really good parts. The Eagles have become underachievers, one of the worst things you can say to a coach about his team."

Reuben Frank heaps more hot coals upon Andy's brow:

Lurie Should Fire Reid To Restore Eagles Image http://www.csnphilly.com/football-ph...776&feedID=692

    EXCERPT:
"...By any measure, Reid is a successful NFL head coach. Only 13 coaches in NFL history have taken more teams to the playoffs. Only 11 coaches with at least 200 games have a higher winning percentage.
But this goes way beyond any of that. This goes right to the heart of how the Eagles are perceived in Philadelphia and why. And right now, the Eagles rank down there in popularity with SEPTA, the Philadelphia Parking Authority, roving PenDOT crews and Lew Blum Towing. Public sentiment is fiercely anti-Eagles right now. All because of Reid..."

Bob Ford says that FO shouldn't be exempted from blame, and that it's wrong for them to allow Reid to absorb all of the criticism:

      EXCERPT:
"... But as unpleasant a revelation as the last five weeks (and four losses) have been on the field, equally telling has been the silence emanating from the organization's front office. With Reid swinging alone in the breeze, it hasn't had the common decency to either cut him down or prop him up.
Reid wasn't alone in assembling the plan for the season, but he's getting the blame for its failure and, from all appearances, that suits team president Joe Banner and general manager Howie Roseman just fine.
There is no question that Reid is still a dominant force within football operations, but he has ceded a tremendous amount of player-personnel control in the last two years. It was the price he paid for his stubborn allegiance to Donovan McNabb. After the 2009 season, general manager Tom Heckert, a football guy in Reid's mold, was replaced by Roseman, an office wonk handpicked by Banner, and the scales shifted at the NovaCare Complex..."

"From 1962 through 1977, they had one winning season and no playoff appearances in a 16-year span. From 1982 through 1999, an 18-year span, they won just two playoff games and never made it past the wild-card round under six different coaches."

This is why I am afraid to make a coaching change. I remember a lot of those years all too well

          From Bob Ford's piece:

It was the price he paid for his stubborn allegiance to Donovan McNabb. Ford expresses one of my primary gripes. We heard a lot from Banner and Roseman before the season went in the toilet. I recall many of us taking issue with non football man Banner offering glowing, unsolicited opinions regarding the abundance of talent on the Eagles. The overwhelming sentiment was that Joe should just STFU.

Now that the season has turned to an umitigated disaster, neither Joe nor Howie seem very interested in commenting publicly. They're now perfectly content with letting Reid take ALL the heat, gutless cowards that they seem to be.

The question remains, How much influence did Roseman have on the last 2 drafts, both of which were dismally unproductive considering the number of selections the Birds had.

So then this losing season has kinda been worth it.

Leave it to tino to find the silver lining!

It's true. Banner and his protege have been awfully silent since this season went in the shitter. All of a sudden they just don't have anything to say, and they are apparently OK with leaving Andy holding the shitbag.
