  • DJ's first visit will be with Washinton

PFT is reporting that DJ's first team visit is scheduled for Washington on Monday.

Ah yes! Who could have predicted that? It's so impressive to see that Washington GM Bruce Allen is sticking by his commitment to avoid the Skin's past disastrous practice of signing costly, high profile but questionable character FAs.

But who can blame the Skin's FO for being tempted. There's absolutely no reason for them to worry about either Jackson's character or that he might be anything other than a really swell teammate. NFL teams release lightning fast, Pro Bowl receivers in their prime several times each month. And rarely, if ever, is there any actual reason underlying the decision to cut the player. It's typically done on just a whim or as a ball bust. The FO staff of the team cutting the primo player then sit around drinking beer and laughing hysterically while the GMs from the other 31 teams scramble around like beggars at an all-you-can-eat buffet trying to sign the guy.

But seriously, what's probably really going on here is that, upon learning of DJ's release, Danny sprung one of his classic 3 inch boners and ordered Alan to bring Jackson in regardless of what agreement had been made to avoid such guys.

Yea well DC certainly qualifies as a hood so he should be comfortable there and all involved would love nothing better than busting Philly's balls.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy

And I would be surprised to see him visit the Giants and/or the Cowboys.

Sorry till proven other wise I still think this is a bad move -- Especially the timing.

The timing has puzzled/troubled me from the moment I learned of Jackson's release. I was in the car with my wife listening to a sports station. She knows very little about football (other than my near obsession with the Birds) but realized this move was a very big deal. She asked me why the Eagles would release DJ and get nothing back. I told her I couldn't begin to explain it.

There's no question but that DJ will be motivated like never before to play well next season in order to embarrass Chip and Howie for both the fact and the abrupt manner of his release. I think it's unlikely that NY would sign him but both Dallas and Wash are real possibilities. The owners of both teams have a history of being seduced by star power and blind to the character flaws of star players. For his part, a jilted DJ might find a suitor within the division almost irresistible even if they offered less money than Oakland.

Hell hath no fury like a woman (or would be gangsta) spurned.

Figures he'd end up in the division.

If history is at all a predictor, he'll get a decent contract and be hurt by week 2

It figures. Danny will open the checkbook to try and outbid anyone else.

Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs Pass on DeSean Jackson

It looks like DeSean Jackson won't be reunited with his former head coach in Kansas City.
Cross the Kansas City Chiefs off the list of the many teams rumored to be interested in free agent wide receiver DeSean Jacskon.
It's quite interesting to see that Jackson's former head coach Andy Reid didn't have strong interest in signing him. Jackson seemingly made a lot of sense for the Chiefs for a number of reasons. Kansas City could absolutely use help at receiver. It's no secret that Reid loves to pass the ball. Despite lacking a ton of cap space, KC still could have afforded him, as Arrowhead Pride explains. It's hard not to think Jackson would have mutual interest in reuniting with his former head coach. The bottom line here is that if the Chiefs really wanted Jackson, they probably would have ended up with him.
But clearly that wasn't the case. And it makes you wonder why Andy Reid, who knows Jackson better than any other potential suitor out there, would pass on his former player.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Not concerned in the least! Would luv to see the Skins blow their cap bringing him in. And then watch someone light him up over the middle next year!
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Well, should be fun watching Jackson and Deangelo Hall flashing gang signs to each other during every game!

There you go. The guy who created this mess, proclaimed "DJ was all in" when he was clearly loafing, now wants no part of him.

                        Gangs of D.C.

                        Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Following are two lists of crews and gangs thought to be present in the District. The first was compiled by Ron Moten, co-founder of the youth violence intervention group Peaceoholics. It groups gangs based on their presence in five selected D.C. schools.
The second list -- a ward-by-ward breakdown -- originates with the Citywide Coordinating Council on Youth Violence Prevention (CCCYVP), a network of community-based youth organizations, schools and church groups focused on gang violence.

                          MM,

I didn't see the Dead Tree Crew or DTC on the list...a group of mostly white middle class punks who attend every Washington home game. They like to think of themselves as real bad ass. Fifteen or twenty of them will mill around on their 'turf'...their self appointed pregame tailgate area and insult passersby who are wearing gear of that days opponent. The verbal abuse can be pretty tough when directed at groups of 3 or less. As I said, they're real bad ass.

The taunts gets progressively more mild if the group of opposing fans increases beyond 4. When groups of 6 or more pass by, the DTC are now more likely to make overtures consistent with the name other Washington area crews and gangs have attached to the DTC acronym,ie THE DICK TASTERS CLUB.

Here are some pics of the club's self-appointed 'Mayor', a well healed suburban punk whose primary credentials to be Mayor revolve around his willingness to spring for beer and grub before each tailgating rendezvous. He's holding the bull horn from which emanate the taunts and insults.

He's pretty damn scary looking isn't he?

Here's a link to their web site if you dare to go there!

As a resident of the environs of DC, I have had several scary run-ins with the notorious DEADTREECREW. Let me tell you, some of their insults can be pretty debilitating. The leader of the DTC, Spanky Macfarland, pictured in Tino’s post above with his baseball hat worn menacingly backwards on this head, is particularly fearful because he uses a bullhorn to amplify his viciously cruel remarks.

I’ve heard that the initiation rituals for entering the DTC are very harsh. Pledges are supposedly required to wear non-matching madras jackets with their school ties and must go a full month without washing their BMW’s.

I once made the mistake of wearing a Donovan McNabb jersey to a Redskins game when #5 was the Eagles quarterback. When I foolishly walked past the DTC in the Redskins parking lot, which BTW costs $25 to park in and is located 2 miles from the stadium, the gang unleashed a flurry of harmful words which almost paralyzed me with their poison. “Hey cheesesteak-lover,” I heard as I approached. “McNabb’s mother wears combat boots…and she only knows how to cook Campbell’s Soup!!!” It was like an arrow had pierced my heart when these remarks were accompanied with laughter and titters from some of the other crew members, Alfalfa, Porky and Buckwheat.

Anyway, several years later, I attended another Eagles-Redskins game when McNabb quarterbacked the Redskins. I thought I would get revenge by hurling some criticisms back at the DTC. “Good luck with the air-guitar-playing worm-burner,” I managed to say with fear in my voice. I’ll never forget Spanky’s witty response: “I know you are, but what am I?"
