More bad news for the Cowboys ahead of their Week 3 game against the Eagles

The hits keep coming for Dallas.

The Dallas Cowboys’ 2021 season isn’t off to a great start.

Not long after losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL Kickoff Game, news broke that they’d be losing two key starters in the near future. Starting wide receiver Michael Gallup was placed on injured reserve with the expectation he’ll miss three-to-five weeks. Starting right tackle La’el Collins, meanwhile, was hit with a five-game suspension that begins in Week 2.

And now the Cowboys are going to be without their top defender for the foreseeable future. DeMarcus Lawrence broke his foot during the Cowboys’ Wednesday practice, according to a report from Joe Trahan.

Lawrence has led Dallas in sacks in three out of their last four seasons. The Cowboys don’t have much in the way of proven pass rushing talent outside of him. There will be more pressure on Randy Gregory, who’s often been unavailable in the past, to step up with Lawrence out. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, Gregory recently rested positive for COVID-19 and will miss their Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. And the Bolts just so happened to have the NFL’s best pass protecting offensive line in Week 1.

Here’s some reaction to Lawrence’s injury from our enemies over at Blogging The Boys:
The Cowboys could be in a position of starting Tarell Basham and Dorance Armstrong at defensive end this week.

Long-term, the Cowboys have bigger problems as Lawrence is their best player on defense and a centerpiece of their pass rush. Early optimism from after the Bucs game is being tested now.

Gallup, Collins, and now Lawrence will all be out when the Philadelphia Eagles travel down to JerryWorld to take on the Cowboys in Week 3. It’s going to be a big opportunity for the Birds to take advantage of their di

    aw shucks, FUCK em
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Damn the luck. I wish we had a pro bowler or two that we could give them because we care.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
      Hope is not a strategy

Nice to see the enemy taking hits instead of us, so far anyway. Let's hope it just keeps up. Health and turnovers are the keys to any successful team.

Not to mention, Randy Gregory may not make the Chargers game due to Covid protocol. They still have Dak and that offense. But, they only have 2 strong players on the DL and they may both be out this week.

Cowboys OL Ty Nsekhe hospitalized, out Sunday

Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Ty Nsekhe spent Thursday night in a local hospital after being taken by ambulance from practice because of a heat-related illness and will not play Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports.

Coach Mike McCarthy said Nsekhe, who is in his first year with the team, has since been released from the hospital.

"Our medical staff felt it was best that he spend the evening in the hospital," McCarthy said.

As the media were talking to Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper after practice Thursday, a Frisco ambulance made its way to the back entrance of The Star and EMTs went inside to aid Nsekhe.

The scene was concerning, especially with what happened to the Cowboys last year when strength and conditioning coach Markus Paul collapsed in his weight room office and died two days later.

"I think anytime you're dealing with heat issues, it's never comfortable," McCarthy said. "I think when an individual needs to get an IV, being dehydrated is an uncomfortable feeling. You have guys that may have cramped after hot practice like that but it's never a comfortable feeling."

With Nsekhe out, Terence Steele will start at right tackle against the Chargers, replacing La'el Collins, who was suspended last week for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy. Brandon Knight will serve as the backup tackle.
