The head of the union representing NFL officials called allegations that officiating crews are biased in favor of the Kansas City Chiefs or any other team “insulting and preposterous,” Josh Dubow of The Associated Press reports.
NFL Referees Association executive director Scott Green released a statement on Tuesday thanking Commissioner Roger Goodell for dismissing the allegations and responding to “conspiracy theories” on social media about favoritism to the Chiefs.
“Commissioner Goodell’s comments that it is ‘ridiculous’ to presume that NFL officials are not doing everything possible to make the right call on every play is spot on,” Green said. “Officiating crews do not work the same team more than twice each regular season. It is insulting and preposterous to hear conspiracy theories that somehow 17 officiating crews consisting of 138 officials are colluding to assist one team.”
A handful of high-profile calls in the playoffs that have gone in Kansas City’s favor have fueled the theories of favoritism, with Houston getting penalized for two illegal hits on Patrick Mahomes in the divisional round and Josh Allen being ruled just short of converting a fourth-and-1 sneak in Kansas City’s 32-29 victory over Buffalo in the AFC championship game.
But a deeper look at all penalties shows no signs of systematic bias. The Chiefs have been penalized for 120 more yards than their opponents in the regular season and playoffs since the start of the 2022 playoffs.

That's for sure, but if most of the fans in football feel that way the seed should be planted in these ref's minds for the biggest show on Earth, the Super Bowl.

These are roughing calls in the playoffs for all QB's. Mahomes gets a roughing penalty approximately 1 time every 15 hits. That is pathetic.

Hell McNabb got drilled and got his ribs broken while he was laying on the ground against Carolina in the championship game and there was no flag, We are always getting screwed and it most likely will happen again Sunday Like the Last Super Bowl that we played them a couple of years ago.

I don’t think the refs are going to start giving us makeup flags in the fiat qtr but I do think they will be vigilant to make sure it is actually a penalty and they will confer with each other to ask if anyone saw it differed.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
Hope is not a strategy
RIP
People see Mahomes drawing two very suspect roughing calls, then literally slowing down at the sideline and flopping trying to draw another one. Then, they see Jared Goff getting drilled in the face, helmet to helmet, no flag. They see Lamar Jackson getting hip drop tackled 5 yards out of bounds, no flag. They see Jalen Hurts getting drilled in the head on a slide, and getting tackled out of bounds, no flags. The NFL needs to STFU. People aren't blind.
