Have to agree with a lot of that aw.
Not sure if he has taken a hit to the head too many or had too many dinners with Michael Jordan but Hurt is off a bubble yet thinks he is the heat. I don’t see them dumping him but Nick needs a long talk. He can still make plays with his legs but he sure has lost a step in speed.
I said above about AJ half stepping but part of that he is also slow. I think the first play and then touchdowns either didn’t run hard or was just too slow. I also rewatched and I still believe in the 4th qtr that int was high but he didn’t extend and he did short arm the third down play the
    next series.
And that play right before half when they added the three seconds Hurts went out and made that at dumb ass pass out of bounds. WTF? I put a large part of that on Sirianni in not saying run for a couple yards to get the ball in place for Elliot. Who never should’ve missed the kick anyway.

Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
    Hope is not a strategy

Hurts is a product of those around him. He needs a new OC that can bring something different. IT is not eh OC fault, but the constant changes at OC are influential and he does well wit a certain personality. Its too evident to miss. I think AJ is impacting the rest of the offense. Steen is not the issue, but the overall health of the OL is. Mailata is pressing and the rest of the line is out or far less than 100%.

I do think one of the biggest issues is the lack of team character/fortitude. Everything is good when they are winning, but a few losses and they get inside their heads. it happened in 2024 and is happening now. That is a leadership issue and falls to Howie, Nick and the vets, h

KYFRED… I do wonder if some of what we’re doing on offense is because Jalen is just so limited on what he can process in a timely enough matter that we have to keep things so basic. I think maybe the limitations on motion etc. might just be Jehlen can’t handle it all but that’s a big problem. Man is this offense looks like a fucking high school offense

AW: There are strong OC's that can hide that simplicity in complex systems. Ultimately, its about building a system that manages the variation and allows for s simple paly. Its why WR# is immaterial in the system. Its built upon a play that exposes and leverages the opponent. We do not have a play caller that understands the limitations he is dealing with or has the experience to hide the simplicity needed

Changing the OC is not going to help Hurts. Hurts can only help Hurts. He isn't playing with anticipation and timing, he is hesitant and inconsistent. Doesn't matter what is called he has to execute and he is not. Are there times with the OC calls a bad play YES happens in every offense. Folks were screaming we don't throw over the middle enough, he throws passes over the middle last night and got picked off. We don't roll him out enough, he rolls out throws another pick. Now he isn't get much help from the cast around him and they are also a problem but he has to clean it up. Otherwise we are heading into another Russell Wilson Carson Wentz type situation

I agree with you on that. There is shared responsibility here between the OC and Jalen's limitations as a reactive QB. He can't read defenses fast enough. He doesn't anticipate throws... or rarely does. Because I say that and yet he threw DeVonte open late in the game over the middle. That might have been his best throw all year. I also think the WRs don't bail him out. AJ drops way too many passes and DeVonte can drop balls also. The INT to the DT that dropped in coverage was a helluva pick by that player. That was a fastball. Don't see a lot of DTs that can make that play. The deflected INT at the end of the game was also a good play. Good teams make those plays. Jalen shouldn't have made the throw but again. Great play.

As bad as this team is right now on offense, I can't see us losing out. I think we lose to Buffalo and then take 2 out of 3 from Wash (2) and the Raiders. That won't be enough to win the division of course, unless Dallas loses a game. Dallas only semi-tough game is the Chargers. I really don't think the Chargers are all that elite. Maybe the Vikings can put up a bit of a fight.

The NFC East has turned out to be putrid this year.

I don't care about the playoffs. I just want to keep Dallas from winning the division at this point.

I could see us winning the division with a 10-7 record and then getting bounced in the first round.

Overlooked is how well Adori Jackson played yesterday. We were a great defensive play away from winning the game. I'm pissed off too but I'm not hitting the panic button.

The guy they need to move on from is Jake Elliott. He's got around a 75% success rate on F.G.s. That is bottom tier. There are several kickers who are around 90%. Watching these other kickers routinely drill these FGs, and then watching Eillott miss ones that cost us games is beyond frustrating.

Agree on Elliot. But I have to wonder is Jalen actually hurt and no one is letting on? I mean he is so reluctant to run especially since that Tampa game when the guy blasted him late and no call was made. He seemed concussed then but who knows. Not trying to make excuses but he was just so bad it doesn't add up.

I posted above that he might be a half bubble off. But I also posted an answer to 60 last week that Hurts might be part of why Nick and Patullo run the O that they do because he was poor at reading defenses when he came into the league. So I, nor are any of us, close enough to the team to know that. However there are reporters who should have some knowledge of this and it irritates me that we dont read about it. I fully believe these guys don’t want to lose the access that they have and they only report surface level stuff.

I just watched an interesting reel by Jason Avant, breaking down the film on one of the INTs Hurts had. Pre snap, the defense is showing a cover zero look. But at the snap, they are dropping guys back in coverage. Hurts doesn't know who is going to drop. This is apparently what Todd Bowles uses a lot against Hurts, and everyone else is picking up on it. Hurts literally has three decent options. He's got Smith on a deep out to the back of the endzone. He's got Dotson on an in route, cause the deep middle is open. He's also got Barkley on a wheel route. Any one of those are decent go to's. But Hurts locks in on AJ Brown, who is in the middle of the area where the defenders are dropping, and tries to force the ball to him when he's got three guys around him, and it gets picked off. That's not on Patullo. There's literally three good options, and Hurts throws the ball to the one bad read. I think teams have figured Hurts out. The book is out on him, and defenses know how to play him, and how to confuse him. Call it the Todd Bowles effect.

When we are cooking the whole offense goes through A J. Hurts may have had other receivers open, but if he forced the ball to and AJ and AJ got his hands on it he should have caught it. For a guy that cries a lot about not being involved enough in the passing game he really screwed the pooch Monday night as far as I'm concerned. If you want the freaking ball so much-- catch it! He started the game off with a perfectly thrown ball that went right through his hands. We all know Hurts isn't a HOF quarterback, but he's a good leader and has proved that he can win a Super Bowl. There are a lot of things to consider when you to rate a quarterback. I don't know where to put him on the chart and we've discussed this before. I think he's good enough to be a franchise quarterback when you consider the intangibles, but I'm like everybody else and have my doubts at times. I don't know what the answer is and I doubt that Howie does right now either; he is who he is. With that huge contract he has he's going to be here for a couple of more years so I would consider the conversation moot about him for now.

                            P. S. I should send the bill from my new iPhone that I had just bought last week

The best thing that could happen to this team right now is Jalen get hurt. At least for a few weeks. Then we can see what the real story is. If Tanners moves the football then you can extend Jalen’s injury issues out and get rid of him in the offseason. Maybe do something like what the Rams did with Goff. Give away a good pick to get rid of him.

Here’s a question? How much different does that game look if AJ catches that first ball.
