  • Article ranks owners......

    I usually don't like to just post a link but this article is really too long to cut and paste....

    The bottom line is that this guy ranks Lurie as the 5th best owner with Kraft, Jones, Snyder, and Huizenga ahead of him.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/michael_silver/06/29/open.mike/index.html] Owners Rankings[/url]

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    While the criteria is really kinda silly and capricious and almost vague, It was at least a starting point.

    Kraft yes, but the rest are a freaking joke.
    We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

        Snyder being in the 2nd category is a joke...

        Jones being one of the two best owners is putrid...

        Rooney should be higher IMO. Lurie is about right.

          We all bitch about ESPN, but SI.com's offseason football content makes ESPN.com look like All The President's Men by comparison. It really says something when Dr. Z is your best contributor, and by a wide margin to boot.

            Based on what criteria? If it's a willingness to invest financially in their team, Snyder certainly gets a nod. But if you count sticking you nose in where it doesn't belong and making bonehead decisionas, he, and Jones, deserve to get bumped. But Jones gets consideration certainly, he's got rings. Bottom line.

              Jones has rings, but he also should receive some special consideration for firing the man that was 90% responsible for those rings, Jimmy Johnson. And, firing him primarily because of his ego. As soon as the unilateral TO signing comes back to bite them on the a$$, he'll look even better as well.

              Snyder is way over-rated. I guess it depends on whether you are actually including the finished product on the field. How many coaches has he had?? How many bad football decisions has he made there, Jeff George?? This guy belongs near the bottom, IMO. He has been nothing short of a complete moron where football is concerned.

                The latest heirs for the Rooney and Hunt family are in the middle of the pack? That makes sense.

                  Jones is a joke, he destroyed his own toy with his admitted meddling. Danny Boy is more of the same. Lurie is like Kraft, he signs the checks after the football guys give their go ahead. The Pats plus is winning the other guys IMO are clowns.

                    I think the criteria is based on how much they paid for the ranking, I'm suprised snyder wasn't # 1 though

                      On a 2nd thought, I love the article. It will only inflate the egos of Snyder and Jones, so that they can keep doing the things they are doing (which benefits the Eagles).

                        FWIW-(admittedly not much) here is the actual vague criteria the guy used...

                        "So, in honor of Parcells' long bus ride, here are our first NFL owner rankings, with many factors considered, the biggest of all being this: If you're a fan of the team in question, how happy should you be about the person or people running the show?"

                        Since he doesn't revel the other components and only gives us the above little tid bit,, I'm also not sure about these rankings.

                        Are the Skins fans really that happy with Danny as the owner??????? Miami Fans, really???

                          Was Red McCombs still the owner of the Vikings when they made that jackassed Hershcel Walker trade with Dallas that pretty much gave them the picks that translated to SB wins? Jerry Jones shuold have that guy's name as an assist if he's going to be #2.

                            If that's the criteria, Snyder should drop like a rock. MANY people in the DC area don't care for the guy one bit. He's s spoiled little rch kid with no idea about football. Now, Jack Kent Cook was widely loved, (even though he was a bit of a dirtbag, himself), but the first thing Snyder did when he took over the team was to wipe Cooks name off of everything Skins-related, including the new stadium.

                              2. Jerry Jones, Cowboys ;
                              3. Dan Snyder, Redskins;
                              Lost me after that. With those two idiots on the list it's clear that the criteria is nothing more than who gives the writer the best seats to the games, quotes, "inside" comments etc. Jones may have won three SB but he screwed over the fans by letting his ego get in the way of the best coach he could have ever had in Johnson. He fired JJ and hired Switzer as his HC which by itself should be enough to move him to the bottom of the list!! Yeah I know good old Barry won a SB but I credit that win to Johnson. Switzer was a moron and everyone but Jones knew it!

                              As for the spoiled brat, he hasn't won anything and has created a revolving door for FO personnel and HC's . Bringing back Gibbs was a great PR move, but keeping Vinnie Cerrato as Director of Player Personnel is laughable. He's a yes man for Snyder who is either clueless about personnel moves or ball-less in standing up to Danny boy. Regardless, his presence on the list means it's nothing more than a popularity contest of the teams fans -- but here's the kicker, the actual opinion of the fans doesn't count!! I know a few Foreskins fans and none of them like Danny. If these guys are any indication Skins fans would like nothing better than for Snyder to sell the team and give them a chance to win again.

                              Let's hope that NEVER happens!!!
