  • Big Red's Days are Numbered.

You can only blow smoke up people's asses so long. Once the populace discovers that the emperor has no clothes, it's revolution time.

As Hoffman said, unless Reid turns this fiasco (and it is a FIASCO) into a deep run into the playoffs, he won't have a chance at redemption in Philly. It'll be "Thanks for the memories, but what have you done for me lately!" So, Reid better hope that Vick can continue his "accelerated" play, because once he settles down to the QB who never had a QB rating higher than 81.6 over the course of a full season as a starter, it is "Adios, Amigo."

If McNabb, who was the real face of the franchise, can be shipped out, there is nothing to stop Reid's departure.

I wonder what the percentage split was between people who wanted to win now and people who were willing to take a couple years to develop kolb were.

In my mind, I was going to give Reid the benefit of the doubt for a couple more years as he developed Kolb. But this move means he better win this year. Which makes no sense.

Unless you buy into the theory that this wasn't Reid's decision.

Even if it wasn't Reid's decision, do you think Banner, et al are going to take responsibility? Reid himself stated that it was his decision, so he signed his own death warrant.

Guys - have any of you thought of the possibility that losing Reid might be catastrophic for this franchise? You thought Banner-Roseman was starting to exert more influence now, wait until Banner dons the headset and lamenated playsheet on the sidelines.

Right, wins are important for a coach's job security. Got that. Check.

I actually would welcome seeing Banner/Roseman as our head coach. Then we can all say fuck it and root for the Toronto Argonauts.

But yeah, I get your point, this does not portend good things.

The more I think about this, the more i gotta believe this decision is coming from Lurie/Banner.

                This just isn't Reid's m.o.

Whoa, nelly....people are off and running

First off, Reid does what any HC in football, no make that sports, does with the media and press conferences etc. He says only what he has to say to protect his players, the organization etc. He has no obligation, as he said, to explain every detail of every issue publicly. If you call that "blowing smoke up people's asses", so be it. I call it smart.

Reid will only be fired or leave if Lurie et al. think he is doing a bad job or the team is not progressing etc. I cannot see that happening any time soon and do not buy the conspiracy theories that Reid is being forced to make these decisions etc.

That said, I disagree with his decision on Vick/Kolb, believe it is unfair to Kolb, some wishful thinking on Reid's part that Vick is "back" when his peak was not all that great anyway. But as a fan of the Eagles I hope it works out.

You just don't like it because it blows up your carefully constructed narrative about how the Eagles always have a master plan they are adhering to.

VFK - conspiracy theories aside, do you agree that this type of flip flopping is not the type of decision that Reid normally makes. It's been 11 years and this is just not his style.

If that's true, this is all going to blow up.

Don't think it's his m.o., but I totally believe it was his move. I think Big Red would walk before he'd make a change like this after being ordered to do so by the pencil-necked geeks Banner and Roseman.
