  • Another fortunate injury?

OK, that might be taking it a bit too far, but we have talked about getting guys injured or yanked for whatever reason, and their replacements being equal or better for the task. I have a suspicion that that may hold true with the Bradley injury as well. I am excited about CHaney getting the opportunity to get some playing time, and think that he may in fact be the MLB of the future.(We know it's not Gaither). What say you all?

Agree on all counts Fresh. As a matter of fact, I made this exact comment to my wife who thinks Stewart Bradley is just dreamy I might add.

Chaney is fairly big... at least big enough to play the position. Was a 3-year starter at MLB in the SEC. It is going to be can he get the mental side and is he a reactor. I liked what I saw from him last night. He struggled in coverage but don't they all when they first start playing.

Look at the way Lindley, Patterson, Allen and Fokou have progressed. Its OK to play these guys early and see what you have. I will miss Stewart Bradley but I really think Chaney might be a better player in the long run.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Who knows? Bradley was just starting to play well. It is unfortunate that he was injured (again). But, we have been blessed with some great depth at almost every position. Even King Dunlap played pretty well last night!

Seems Trotter got his opportunity in much the same way, took the job and didn't relinquish it. I'm hoping for the same.

I had predicted that Moises would take over as a starter, and he has....but still hasn't become what I had forseen. But you look at this team, and this defense in particular and look at the guys that are all either starting, or playing significant roles for the first time in thier pro careers and it is simply shocking. Let's be honest, this defense is NOT real good. But we keep making changes that seem to be small upgrades at this position and that position.......eventually we will hopefully have a competent unit, if not a dominant one.

        Couple of other notes....
Patterson is showing some real potential that makes losing Hobbs inconsequential.

I'm not real upset about the fact that we may lose Graham for a while....especially with Juqua back. Sorry, but no real big loss there, IMO(Sad to say that about our first rounder)

Sorry Stock, I know that Stu is your guy. And he HAS been looking better. But MLB just might not be his future on this team. BTW, did anyone else notice some 4-3 last night????

I think that we're really going to miss Bradley. Chaney got buried a couple of times and got blown up on one play by the FB. I think that he'll be good in pass coverage quickly as the Birds have been working him in gradually and he has even played a little safety. We'll just have to keep are fingers crossed on this one.

Fresh, it just means that I have to purchase a new jersey! I think you mean 3-4.

I'm sorry guys, but losing Bradley absolutely sucks during week 14 especially. You guys have short memories... don't you all remember how bad we were at MLB with Bradley out last year? Tough to throw a guy out there like Chaney this late in the year.

This is a bad break... pun intended.

I thought Chaney was very stout in the run game. Looked a little lost in space dropping back in coverage, but it's not like Bradley hasn't looked like that throughout the year. I wouldn't say losing Bradley is a good thing, but Chaney looks like he's capable of handling the job.

The real liability in the linebackers right now is Sims. He is absolutely terrible. I'd really like to see Jordan back at the WIL.

I love all of these young rooks on the defense. Fingers crossed on Graham's injury last night. But Allen, Lindley, Chaney, Clayton, Graham, Coleman -- that's a good young group of defensive players from a single draft class.
Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd kill you and everyone you cared about!

We need to add another corner and another LB in the draft... plus and I can't believe I'm saying this... another edge rusher wouldn't hurt but this defense is really loaded with young talent.

I don't see Sims as terrible LT, but I'll admit that I wasn't really watching him last night. I did watch him last week, and I thought that he played real well. What was going on last night.

I agree, I'm not about to jump on board with the idea that MLB will improve a la DT and RCB. Bradley may have been up and done but he's hardly a bad player or a weakness, and in all likelihood would have continued to improve.

Did a terrible job on the Witten TD catch, didn't keep him bottled up at the line at all and just lost him in traffic.

He was a step behind in coverage all night, which is par for the course. And his run support is very, very erratic. He has Trotter's old disease, overrunning plays and getting caught out of position. His instincts just seem really bad. And he's too small.
