Eagles | Team will have competition at fullback
    Sun, 23 Jul 2006 11:19:43 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg was asked if the team would have competition at the fullback position during minicamp. Mornhinweg responded by saying, "Absolutely, there is going to be great competition there. That's an important position for us. We've got a lot of competition going on especially on offense. More than likely we'll have a host of young players playing for us so competition is great. One guy pushing another, and all of a sudden those guys are doing the very best they possibly can." During his press conference, he named FB Jason S. Davis as someone who has done an excellent job so far in training camp. He claims Davis' pass-catching ability is a positive for the team, but believes he could get stronger and add some strength.

Eagles | Mornhinweg discusses Chang's progress
    Sun, 23 Jul 2006 11:18:54 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg discussed QB Timmy Chang's progress with the team. "I think he's got something there. He really throws the football well. He's a tough guy; he's got a little juice to him. Again, he's just got a lot of learning to do like any new quarterback coming in. I think he is doing well. Especially, a young quarterback like he is, in this system in the NFL, you're going to make mistakes. It's almost [like] you can't get better without making mistakes. We understand that."

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said WR Todd Pinkston (Achilles') has looked good in his return from an Achilles' injury. Mornhinweg added, "I haven't seen much effect of that surgery. It appears like he is running well; it appears like he has some burst. He is getting in and out of breaks, so that's a good thing. It's a positive thing for us."

Eagles | Mornhinweg discusses Thorn's progress
    Sun, 23 Jul 2006 11:17:49 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg discussed TE Andy Thorn's progress so far. Mornhinweg said, "He's greatly improved with the understanding of the offense. The second thing is, physically he has done a heck of a job improving himself as well. Typically, he has caught the ball very well, and he is getting in and out of breaks here. He's done a heck of a job here these three days."

Eagles | Mornhinweg discusses Buckhalter's progress
    Sun, 23 Jul 2006 11:17:23 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg discussed RB Correll Buckhalter's (knee) progress in his return from a knee injury. Mornhinweg said, "I think he is doing pretty well. He's bucking the odds just a little bit. He's done a heck of a job doing that. Our training staff - with Rick [Burkholder] and the rest of the guys – [has] done a tremendous job with him just to get him to this point. So, we'll see what happens."

Eagles | Mornhinweg discusses how he plans to run the ball more
    Sun, 23 Jul 2006 11:16:28 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg discussed how he plans to run the ball more in the upcoming season. Mornhinweg said, "We're not going to put any numbers on anybody. [RB] Brian Westbrook will have his hands on the football enough for us to win. Again, we will use all of our eligible receivers and all of our eligible runners and spread it around just a little bit. But, Brian will have his hands on the ball enough for us to win."

Eagles | McNabb looking sharp in training camp
    Sun, 23 Jul 2006 11:15:45 -0700

I always love camp because we have about 85 players on the 'team', and they are all HOF ers right now.

This guy makes Spadaro sound humble. Competition at FB? You bet. He neglected to point out that it's a battle of incompetents.
        "Hey Giants, who's your Daddy?"
