Giants running back Charles Scott involved in car accident

Giants running back Charles Scott was involved in a car accident in Louisiana earlier this week, according to his agent, Jon Perzley.

"He's doing well. He's definitely got some cuts and bruises. He'll be okay, put it that way," Perzley said by phone minutes ago. "He's going to be fine. And anytime there's a car accident, you're just so glad he's alive. He's like a brother to me. He's okay."

Perzley emphasized that Scott's injuries were not career threatening and he'll absolutely be able to play football again.

Thursday night, Scott posted a similarly positive message on his Twitter account.

"I just want to thank all my friends, fans & family for the many needed prayers and support," Scott wrote on his Twitter account. "I'm doing well and will be home soon. Love y'all."

Giants cornerback Michael Coe tweeted Scott was in a "terrible" accident and that he was in ICU. Perzley said Scott is no longer in ICU.

Perzley did not share any details about the accident except to say it occurred late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. A report by Fox 44 in Baton Rouge, La., indicated Scott was a passenger in the car.

"Listen, just let all the fans know he's okay, he will be OK," Perzley said. "Nothing's life threatening. He's resilent. He'll bounce back. It's unfortunate that when this happens, it's not his fault. And when it's not his fault and the other person gets really hurt, it's not good. It's never a good thing."

Scott, a sixth-round pick of the Eagles last April who was on the Giants' practice squad all of last season and was signed to a reserve/future contract for 2011, is the second Giant/former LSU player in as many years to suffer injuries in a car accident. Last June, safety and third-round pick Chad Jones nearly lost his leg when he struck a pole in New Orleans.

Just another in a long line of Eagles castoffs that the Giants have glommed on to. It's really kind of skeevy. The term 'sloppy seconds' comes to mind!

      Per RotoWorld...

Giants RB Charles Scott will be "close to 100 percent" by training camp after sustaining multiple injuries in a serious car accident two months ago.

Scott has made an "outstanding" recovery, but he may still be limited at the outset of camp. He was already facing an uphill battle to make the final roster, so there will be pressure to get back on the field quickly.

The Cardinals were so impressed that they put him on their practice squad early in the season. The Giants then plucked him from the Cardinals practice squad.

The Lions are working out Charles Scott. Wow. They must seriously be worried about this Jerome Harrison injury. Haha.

They were trading for Brown because Jahvid Best is out with concussions, possibly even for the year -- he had another one during training camp. Though his agent is saying it's a "week to week" thing. Still, Detroit needs RBs now. Harrison will I'm sure go on IR once they have someone else to sign.

Best might be done. He had that absolutely BRUTAL concussion event in college at Cal. For anyone that saw that, my wife and I were watching that game live and we actually thought the kid died on the field of a head injury.

That was the risk you took with this kid. A great player with tons of upside but he had serious red flags for injuries....but then again didn't cornelius ingram and we all know that has worked out well.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.
