NFL Linebacker, JMU Star Jordan Arrested

HARRISONBURG - Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Akeem Jordan, a Harrisonburg native and former standout on the James Madison University football team, was arrested in connection with an incident in Harrisonburg early Sunday and charged with misdemeanor assault and battery, according to the Harrisonburg Police Department.

Details of the case are murky and it's not clear where Jordan, 25, was arrested or what specifically led to his arrest. According to an HPD report, the incident occurred in a parking lot on Evelyn Byrd Avenue. He was released on his own recognizance earlier today.

The 6-foot-1, 230-pound Jordan was born in Harrisonburg on Aug. 17, 1985, and attended Harrisonburg High School and JMU before being signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2007.

Jordan, who has played four seasons in the NFL, all with the Eagles, made just over $1.6 million last year.

The Daily News-Record will have a complete report on this story in Tuesday's print and online editions.

Ew. Misdemeanor at least. No real details yet, so no telling how bad this is (or isn't). But usually the police blotter is not a good place to end up if you are borderline on making the team... though at this point I'd think he still makes it.

Based on most recent news, you'd think this makes him MORE likely to remain an Eagle because by every reporters' logic, Vick is here to help him become rehabilitated.

Buh Bye....Eagles do not dig this behavior and he is replaceable since he's been beat out at 2 LB positions and may have hit his ceiling

              Report: Eagles LB Jordan charged

Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Akeem Jordan has been charged with misdemeanor assault and battery in his hometown of Harrisonburg, Va., the Philadelphia Daily News reported Monday.

According to Harrisonburg police, Jordan, 25, was arrested in connection with an incident that occurred at a restaurant early Sunday.

"They got into a verbal altercation, which led to a physical disorderly incident," police spokeswomen Mary-Hope Vass told the Daily News. "The incident was reported to us on Sunday afternoon.

"The victim obtained the warrant, went to the magistrate and obtained the warrant. Jordan turned himself in Sunday without any issues," Vass added.

The five-year NFL veteran out of James Madison University was released on his own recognizance Monday, according to the report.

I will wait to see what he did first before passing judgement.

                  Per RotoWorld...

The Eagles are expected to "jettison" free agent LBs Akeem Jordan and Omar Gaither.

Gaither had fallen out of favor by early last season, and Jordan saw defensive action in just half the games as a reserve. The Eagles do want to retain free agent Stewart Bradley, who would start alongside Jamar Chaney and either Moise Fokou or Keenan Clayton.
