I recognize that this team needs to put money aside to give Vick and Jackson their deals.

But let's be real: they've got the resources to add good veterans at two key spots: offensive line and linebacker. They better get off their asses and do something at these two spots.

Yesterday at practice Casey Matthews was running as the first-team MLB. That's not going to cut it for a team with legitimate aspirations. I'm reading about interest cooling in guys like Tulloch or Nick Barnett. They have to bring in a good veteran linebacker, IMO.

And yesterday with Justice out and Watkins not signed, the first team OL looked like the same mess as last year. Dunlop at RT, McGlynn starting inside. Can we really count on Jamaal Jackson? I have no comfort at all that Justice will be ready at the start of the year.

This team saved A BUNDLE by trading for DRC instead of signing Joseph or Nnamdi. They saved A BUNDLE by signing Babin over a guy like Edwards. Let's put those savings to work.

At best we are getting a second or third rate LB. SSDD.

I agree with you that we need more but I doubt this team sees it that way. They are not going to go out and go crazy because they never really do. They do just enough to be good enough to get to the playoffs and use the lame excuse that you have to get there to be able to win it.

I am so down on this team it isn't even funny.

      LOL...talk about SSDD....

I doubt the Eagles are sitting around twindlin' their thumbs...there are over 300 FA still available and more cuts to come as teams adjust their rosters. I'm pretty sure they are going to address LB and probably DT and S.

On the OL, Watkins will be signed very soon and Justice should be back around the first pre-season game. In the meantime, Howard, Dunlap and McGlynn will get some reps along with the new draft picks. I do not think they will get a FA OL unless the injury to Justice is more serious or someone else goes down.

Matthews starting at MLB means nada...remember none of the coaches have seen these guys since the draft and Castillo will want to put them all in different spots to see how they perform and figure out the best 3 LB options.

Its all part of their plan. The Eagles had a plan for every outcome of the CBA and they have hit the ground running and will be aggressive

C'mon again thats just not correct....

They've had to start TC, sign their picks, sign FA, make trades and monitor their own FA, all within, what its been now, 3 days?

Most of us agreed the priorities were:

RCB, RG, DE, backup QB, backup RB, LB, backup DT and S....

They've landed the RCB, RG, DE and backup QB they want already...they were in on Sproles for backup RB and still have numerous options (Brown, Williams, Portis et al.). They are in on Tulloch for LB and still have numerous options (Barnett, Bradley, Morrison et al.). There are numerous DT and S on the market and others that maybe cut soon...

Because everything is not done in 3 days, we are going to wring our hands and bash them?

there really are not many great O-Lineman and Linebackers out there for them

Tulloch, Barnett and Bradley are the only ones that interest me at LB

I suppose Matt Light would be intriguind at guard

but personally for me.....I'd line up and be happy if we just re-upped Vick and got DJ a new contract

I'm mostly fine with the OL. A veteran for depth maybe but there should be lots of those around looking for cheap deals later on. Give Mudd some time in training camp to figure out who he likes and who he doesn't.

              The LBs on the roster:
              Brandon Peguese (UDFA, rookie)
Keenan Clayton (2010 pick, started one game in career)
Greg Lloyd (2011 7th round pick, rookie)
Casey Mathews (2011 4th round pick, rookie)
Brian Rolle (2011 6th round pick, rookie)
Jamar Chaney (2010 7th round pick, started two games in career)
Moise Fouku (2009 7th round pick, started 15 games in career, 11 last year)
Rashad Jeanty (played in CFL, then started a fair bit for the Bengals 2006-2008, lost his starter job in 2009 (played most games but 8 tackles entire year) and then got injured (broke fibula), released and did not play in 2010)

That does not inspire much confidence. Linebacker concerns me a *lot*. When Fokou is (by far) your most experienced linebacker, at least current experience, ... sheesh. We have to do something there. If you're not going to re-sign Bradley, make sure you get someone better, not just sign someone else's Bradley (or pick up guys like Sims). I know they don't value linebacker, or at least have not in the past, but they need to sign more than one veteran there. Hopefully at least one good starter (and they are expensive), and someone else for depth.

I feel much better about the DL with Babin and Washburn, i'm fine with the OL once we get everyone as long as Justice is really back from his injury, obviously pretty good at CB now, can believe in the safeties though they are really young mostly, but linebacker? Yikes.

Also quite nervous at the kicking and punting situations; rookies in those spots can be dangerous, let alone doing that both at once. I'm sure we can find mediocre veterans there though if the kids turn out to be terrible. But we had two above-average guys there before, so it's a risk.

I'm not as concerned with the kicking situation as I am about the LB abd S positions. LB is clearly an area of need and with Bradley gone we're in the same shape we were in 2009 - which should scare everyone!! At safety I'm equally nervous. We have to CBs who can't tackle which means they'll need help whenever a received does get his hands on the ball. Right now we have very little tackling potential back there to help out. They need to bring in an experienced FA who excels at tackling like Roman Harper from the Saints. He could add a lot of punch to this team in the backfield.

I don't see LB as that big of a need. And OL they already addressed with a NFL ready guard in Watkins. The new system should be a lot easier for LBs to pick up, so I'm not to worried about inexperienced LBs. IMO Chaney is going to be a stud and the Eagles clearly like Mathews.

I expect them to continue to add pieces, but IMO they are probably done with their big name moves.
