I still think he's our best DT. That being said, what do the Birds do with him? Do they want another guy with a bad back? Do they just IR him? There should be a disabled list similar to baseball for these guys. If they keep him somebody else has to go, probably Laws. At least he's practicing again, but still not 100%. Do you really want a less than 100% Laws? Not really. Maybe he gets IRed. I suppose they could put Dixon on the roster and IR him later on if he doesn't come around. Losing Laws isn't that big of a deal. What do you guys think?

Laws was coming around last year. I'd hate to just drop him, but that may happen. No doubt someone picks him up. He's a nice player to have around, but may be excess here.

Still a few weeks for Dixon to come around. He's not going anywhere. When healthy, he's a stud. Let's not panick yet. There's still time.

Dixon is our best run stopping tackle Cullen Jenkins is best pass rusher. I think overall I would take Jenkins but its close.

I would not IR Dixon. This team could very well keep six tackles, since we have Hargrove and Jenkins that can slide to the end position. They can go with 4 ends.

I'm still trying to figure out how they are going to work their rotation when they have all of their DT pieces available. I would assume that Jenkins and Patterson will be the "starters" in their base D. Correct?

Panic, hysteria and negativity are the norm for many philly fans, why spoil their fun with logic, sensibility and optimism?

Thats what it was for the Cleveland game so yes I think thats the plan...

I would say Dixon & Hargrove is the second group and then Landri & Laws as the 3rd if we kept all of them.

For DE, its Cole & Babin followed by Tapp & Hunt if Parker is let go and Teo does not make another push for a spot

I think they have to play Laws Thursday and see what he's got. If you're going to carry Dixon who is not ready to play, you can't carry Laws too if he can't produce. Maybe Laws goes to the IR or even gets cut.

they are going to keep 6 DTs I think...and 4 DEs IMO with graham going to the PUP. if you remember Hargrove can swing out and play DE also so that is why i think they keep 6
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

                    Here's Cobb's take

                    I think they'll keep 5, but no way 6.

It’s Step Up Time For Trevor Laws
Posted by GarryCobbBREAKING NEWS, Defensive Line, Eagles, NewsWednesday, August 31st, 2011

When you’re checking out the game tomorrow night between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets make sure to focus on the defensive tackles. Like many of the players in the game, these guys will be fighting for the their football lives.

Trevor Laws, Derrick Landri and Anthony Hargrove will be battling to make the football team. One of them may make the team or possibly two of them will make the team depending on how many defensive tackles the Eagles are going to keep.

Cullen Jenkins, Mike Patterson and Antonio Dixon are locks to make the football team, but Laws, Landri and Hargrove are all on the bubble. Laws is a former second-round draft pick.

Landri is going to be hard for them to cut. Sources close to the team believe he’s going to make the team and they feel that the battle is really between Laws and Hargrove to see if they can force the Birds to keep five defensive tackles.

Landri recorded a sack in the first preseason game against the Ravens and he’s had a very good camp. This young man has a serioius motor and you know that goes a long way with defensive line coach Jim Washburn. I’ve heard that Washburn loves him.

Hargrove has also played very well and had a good camp. He plays very hard and gives tremendous effort.

Laws has been out of action because of a hip flexor for most of the camp.

“I’m able to practice,” he said yesterday. “It’s a lot better than it was before. I’m not 100 percent, I wouldn’t say, but I’ve made huge strides in my recovery process.”

If Washburn had been the coach last year, Laws wouldn’t be under such tremendous pressure to play well, but coaches tend to go by what they see rather than something somebody tells them. Washburn is probably going to select his players based on what he has seen, so it’s step up time for Laws.

“You spend the whole offseason working your tail off, getting your body right, only to come into camp and blow a little gasket,” he said. “It [stinks]. But it’s good to be back in time for the regular season. I’ll start making plays when it matters.”

He showed tremendous improvement last year, but he hasn’t done anything in front of Washburn. Remember that, he hasn’t made any plays or showed tremendous effort in front of Washburn.

I couldn’t emphasize it any more that Laws has got to put up a very good performance tomorrow night.

I'm not sure it matters a whole lot that Dixon or even Laws plays. They were here last year. I think the Eagles already know what they have in these 2 guys. It's the same reason they haven't played Hanson much in the first 3 games...What's the point? You know what he can do and what he can't. So for me, if I'm the Eagles, the only question I have is - will these guys be healthy for the start of the year. If it's an injury you know 100% they will recover from by week 1 or 2, then all that really counts is if you think they are better or worse than the other DT's. I'm not caring much if they can play in the preseason.

I think we're comng from the same angle here Chris. Laws needs a big performance or he's gone IMO.
