  • Nice start.

The Flyers sure looked good tonight. We finally spent some $ on a goalie and after 1 game the returns are looking very promising. Bryzg**** looks like the real deal, great night in net. It's all going to come down to the young guns and how fast they progress. Courtier looks like he's going to be a player. Giroux's passes are just plain sick. Jagr looked much better than even I had hoped, although it's going to take a while before I can openly root for that fucker. Maybe after he scores a hat trick, lol. I think Simmonds is going to be a fan favorite as well, skill and tenacity.
Stand for the flag you assholes!

I love what I've been seeing through the preseason and into last night.

The Giroux-Jagr-JVR line looks lethal. Giroux and Jagr have instant chemistry. I think that line is going to be huge. Can't believe how good Jagr looks after three years in the KHL. He has singlehandedly transformed the power play as well, which was crap last year.

Second line looks good, Briere centering Voracek and Simmonds. Love Simmonds, he looks like a young Rick Tocchet to me. Voracek has serious skills as well.

Couturier continues to impress. Was on the ice for all five penalty kills last night, how many 18-year-olds get that kind of responsibility in the NHL? The kid is a future star and he's already more than holding his own.

Love Matt Read, and the fourth line got a much-needed makeover. Talbot, Rinaldo, Nodl were very active.

The defense is going to be very solid, they've got the best 1-5 group in the league, I think. Pronger struggled last night but it was only his second game back, he only played one preseason game. He will get his game together.

And Bryz is awesome. So fantastic to have a franchise goalie in net. Bobrovsky gives them the best 1-2 goalie combo in the NHL, IMO. Eventually, they will trade Bob for a good prospect, hopefully a good young D-man.

I don't miss Carter the floater at all. The return they got for him -- Couturier and Voracek -- looks fantastic. I miss Richards a little bit, but he was given the C too early in his career. He did not hold teammates (or himself) accountable enough when things would go badly. And he would laugh off too many scrums.

Now, they have a team with Pronger's snarl, and that's a good thing. Seeing JVR go after Chara last night when Chara boarded Giroux warmed my heart. Even the usually passive Coburn got involved in that scrap, giving the big asshole Chara a nice face wash.

Plus, the return they got for Richards was good as well. Simmonds will be an instant fan favorite. And I'm looking forward to getting Schenn back up here.

Eastern Conference is loaded with tough teams this year, but I have high hopes that they will be in contention at the top of the conference again.

I like Simmonds from the little I've seen from him. He moves well on the ice. Giroux is sick and I hope Jagr can keep up the tempo throughout the season.

Bryz. . . . well, I don't want to pin my hopes on one game but. . . .NICE!

The Eagle bandwagon is empty, all we need is a hitch on the back of the Flyer wagon and we can run a double
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

They dominated the Devils Saturday night. But for Brodeur standing on his head, game could have been 6-0 or worse.

Stifling defense, the Debs had only a few decent chances. Wayne Simmonds with a goal and a great fight, just splattered Clarkson.

They ruined another home opener. Awesome. This team is good.

absolutely! I usually casually follow the Flyers the first couple of months and then come the holidays and I'll start to really get into them. Now it looks like I'll be hard core with them from the start!

I'm the same way but the holiday when I start following them is Easter.
