  • I don't see Spags coming here

I don't think that the Birds will roll the dice 2 years in a row and just fire Costielo. I don't think that they'll fire Jaun and then start looking and hope that they find someone. They got burned last year doing that. And I don't think that they would interview Spags before they fired Costielo. They are kind of stuck here.

Does spags really require much of an interview? He is a known quantity to this organization.

AR: Spags, what's up. Bummer about what happened to you in St. Louis.
Spags: Yeah, things just didn't work out.
AR: You want to come back and run our defense?

They have to talk about money and responsiblities. And he might be a buddy of Juan's too. Going behind somebody's back for their job isn't the easiest thing to do. He probably wouldn't go for it.

I don't know if I see him coming here or not, but I certainly think it is possible. I think it will all come down to the discussion Andy has with him about the arrangement? And that means primarily what Andy plans to do with Wash and Castillo. Spags might be OK with retaining those two in some capacity, and he might not. I am less concerned about the money as I am sure they can work that part out.

If Spags doesn't come here, it will only be for the man love that Andy and Juan have for one another.

Look, all I'm saying is that it's complicated. Reid can call Juan in and try to suggest they bring somebody else in to "help". How is that going to go over? Remember Juan was out last year job hunting for college HC jobs and NFL OC jobs. IF Juan gets pissed off and quits or if he gets the boot the Birds could be screwed here if they have nobody again. Juan has a season's experience doing this stuff now, which is more than anybody else the Eagles can bring in if they don't get Spads.

And for your usual wise ass stuff Zep I'll just say that you either missed my point or I guess that you think going behind sonebody's back isn't a big deal.

I agree it is complicated. I think it has to start with Andy sitting down with Spags to see what his vision would be, along with his requirements.

But again my point is that if Juan and Spags have any kind of relationship Spags probably won't talk to the Birds as long as Juan is still DC.

Fire Juan now and get it over with so we can get a real DC in here.

That's the way it's supposed to be done. Then again after watching these play offs, who the hell plays any defense anyway?

It won't matter, we will have the same results. If we go back to a JJ style of D be prepared for the Eagles to give up huge chunks of yards. This isn't the Giants where Spags had some major pieces. This D has some major holes. IMO the best thing that could happen would be to keep Juan and let Andy flame out. This teams needs a reset not a refresh.

The bigger problem with this team is the offense. I know people have a hard on for Juan but if the offense plays Jekyll and Hyde like it did this past season it's not going to matter who the DC is. The offense was supposed to be the strength of the team yet it was the weakness.

I hate everything the Cowboys stand for. If you think they are America's team, then you support everything that is wrong with America. The excess, the greed, the lack of maturity, the lack of responsibility, the lack of control. - Luzinski's Gut

This is depressing but true Blitz. If Reid insists on going with Vick he has to change the offense IMO. Of course, that will never happen.

I understand, I just don't know that that is true. Do you think Spags has more consideration for Juan then Reid does? I think Spags will hear Andy out.

As for the other side of this discussion, I don't disagree with you either, Blitz. I don't know that moving to SPags is necessarily going to fix the problems on this team, and I acknowledge that the offense needs to be more consistent, and stop turning the ball over. If we don't get these turnovers in check, nothing else matters.
