  • Perfect scenario for Romo ?

Ok. Romo is getting a steroid shot (epidural) for his disk herniation. I have had this done 3 times in the past, just so that I could play rec league hockey. In most cases, these shots do reduce the swelling and allow you to play. Plus, I was never told that playing hockey with a herniated disk could lead to more permanent back problems. And, I certainly wasn't preparing to play for the NFC East title.

With that said, I think this whole thing possibly sets up perfectly for Romo, unless his herniation is really bad.

    1) The Eagles don't know who to prepare for until kickoff.
    2) If Romo plays and chokes again, he can blame his back problems.
    3) If Romo plays and wins, everyone will call him a hero and a warrior.
    4) If Romo is held out, it is because the doctors wouldn't let him play.

I never like any Cowboy. But, I really dislike Romo and don't want him to be made out to be some kind of hero. I would not be a bit surprised if he shows up on Sunday night limping around between plays, only to make athletic plays after the ball is snapped.

I have no doubt that he will be labeled as doubtful on friday and it will be a game time decision.

    Romo will play.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

I have a bad feeling about this. Why is the report by Adam Shefter that he is done for the year and "you can take that to the bank" different than what Jerry and Garrett are saying. Who are Shefter and Mortenson working for here?

I do think the doctors will try and keep Romo out. But Jerry is one greedy SOB who would sell his soul for a little glory hole

I don't like this either. I would rather have them say Romo is in or out. But, that's not going to happen.

Well Jerry and Garrett are saying stuff to keep the birds off their perch. They think Chip won't know which QB to prepare for. There may be some truth to that but I think they will practice for whoever the QB is. I also think Shefter and others get inside info and once in awhile it is gospel.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
          Hope is not a strategy
          RIP

Romo is more elusive moving around in the pocket, and pulling plays out of his ass. Orton is not going to do that, but he's still a good QB, and can beat you from the pocket if you let him.

Big f'ing difference. Christ, you'd think from listening to the media talk that Romo and Orton are completely dissimilar players that require a completely different gameplan, and not know which one to prepare for is such a big deal.

Gimme a f'cking break. They don't have to worry about Orton running around as much. Outside of that, what's the difference?? methinks you gameplan for one of them or the other, it doesn't make much difference, if any at all.

Jerry will somehow use this situation to cover his ass and allow him to keep his puppet in place. I don't give a fuck if somehow he gets Peyton Manning to be his QB on Sunday Night. Our O will throttle that D
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Shefter now seems to be back tracking a little. He's no longer saying Romo absolutely won't play.

                  Pliny,

You describe my concerns much better than I did. This is a situation straight out of hell as far as I'm concerned.

I can just see Romo now, milking the 'limp' between plays only to move around like a ballet dancer when the buzzer sounds. And is there any doubt that he will be afforded extra protection by the ref. The Birds will be flagged if they breathe heavily on the fuck.

If Jerry had the power to design this scenario from A to Z, he couldn't have done it more perfectly:

                  - Massive attention all week with the media handing on his every inarticulate sentence.
                  - A 'Get Out Of Jail Free' card to keep his cute little red headed puppet as HC
                  - The opportunity for his $108 Million choke artist to change his legacy forever if he wins and new found admiration as the selfless warrior hero if he loses.

There's absolutely no downside in this for Jerry or Romo. Unless the Docs warn him of likely serious injury if he plays, all forces will be acting on Romo to play. And they'll shoot his ass up so he won't be feeling a thing.

Jerry will play this shit to the hilt! My guess is that no firm announcement will be made before the game and then Romo will run out with the offense and Jerry's pleasure dome will go absolutely shit-house-rat crazy.

If the worst occurs as I fear, may have to resort to the Blitz solution and kill myself.

Well as bad as we seem to think Romo is--- why wouldn't we want him to play?

Same with Garrett---- I wouldn't mind seeing him around again. Jerry could actually wise up and hire a good coach and get a good QB..... I kinda like having both to whip on for a couple more years of futility.

I think Romo and play well. Guys who are "hurt" always seem to do that. We'll have to earn a win Sunday. Go Birds!!!

I call bullshit. Seems to me that someone leaked out that Romo wasn't going to be able to play again this year, and now the Cowboys are doing damage control just so the Eagles have to gameplan for both. True that the gameplan probably doesn't change much, but every team is always looking for any sort of edge they can get.

If Romo gets hit just once, he could be out all of next year. This is a really dumb decision.
