Eagles, Gamble Agree To Part Ways

The Philadelphia Eagles and Tom Gamble, Vice President of Player Personnel, have agreed to part ways.

"We thank Tom for his service over the past two seasons and wish him and his family the best as they move forward," said general manager Howie Roseman. "I appreciate all Tom has done for our scouting department and our team."
    "Hey Giants, who's your Daddy?"

I don't like the looks of this...especially when viewed in the context of this story/non-story about Chip and Howie. And Chip's praise of Gamble. But then again, it could be just to facilitate Gamble's ascension to a GM spot elsewhere. I hope it's the latter.

Damn!! That is not a good sign for the Kelly-Roseman marriage. If the story in yesterdays Inquirer was true, there is some friction between Roseman and Chip. I thought Gamble was one of the guys Chip was close with. If they fired him, that can't be good for Chip!

Here's another speculative twist: What if the things that Kelly said about Gamble actually was coach-speak and that Kelly wanted more say in talent acquisition? So Gamble was shown the door to make that happen?

Also wondering whether Gamble championed some of the offseason moves in the draft and FA last season that brought the team it's current spectator status for the playoff this season?

For those of us who have an interest in stability and continuity, this can not be seen as a good thing.

True. I don't have a good feeling at all about this, but I'm forced to sit, wait, and see. Lurie knows why Gamble's gone. It must have been a good reason for it.

Perhaps it was Gamble and Roseman engaged in a power struggle, instead of Chip and Howie?

This is reminiscent of Kremlinology during the Cold War, lol!

More grist from my speculative imagination: What if Gamble talked Roseman and Kelly out of moving up to draft Beckham?

I don't think there's really anything to it. Gamble came out here from SF on a lateral move to be close to his sick father if I remember right. He'll be very sought after as a GM. My guess is they are cutting ties with him so that he can either devote more time to family matters and then take the inevitable GM job someplace else. In the mean time they probably need a full time guy for Gamble's spot. I wouldn't read anything else into this.

                  NOW we agree 100%
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. I agree with this as well.

They must have someone else ready to either move up or from the outside ready to come in.

If Smith was Gamble's pick, that would make it even more reasonable.

Could be as true as all the other highly speculative reasons given here.

Ofcourse there has to be an off season with drama

The only way this is a good thing is if it was Gamble was responsible for this draft, which was just garbage.

But I'd like to throw out a big fuck you to Howie. Congratulations, you started as an intern and sucked dick to work your way up, but if the only way you can make decisions is by firing everyone that disagrees with you, then you really are a pussy.

Sounds like a bad move........ But if he ONLY was in charge of the cap....that'll be ok .
