  • Duce gets the First Interview

Some are saying to satisfy the Rooney rule but I am not so sure. Probably a little early for him to be a head coach would love to see what he could do as an offensive coordinator though.

The cynic in me said the same, re: Rooney Rule. However, he does have many of the qualities Lurie enumerated in his press conference. The only thing absent is experience. As far as long-term and short-term planning, that is unknown.

he should be upgraded, but HC is way to big of a jump from coaching a crew of top shelf RBs
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

I'm sure the Rooney rule played a part but I could easily see Duce saying he was interested and Jeff giving him a chance because he has been a team guy for a long time.
I like Duce but I am not sure he is ready for head coach. Actually I'm not so sure he did all that well with the RB situation they had this year.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
        Hope is not a strategy
        RIP

Ya know.....Duce just rotates those guys as he sees fit.

That's what Chip says. If I am Jeff I have to ask Duce.....why did you stop rotating Murray. Actually, why was Murray being rotated when he was sucking. I'd ask how he decided who to rotate in and if he said don't know guess I just went with my gut I would end the interview.
I'm not down on Duce. I just don't know that the RBs played to their potential--I mean good RBs that didn't produce. So, I wonder how well Duce did with them. I think he did pretty well with the RBs when McCoy was here and overall I think he may be pretty good. I'm just not sold having watched the RBs this year.

Duce would mean an offensive philosophy similar to AR. I'd be ok with that
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

I like the fact that they interviewed him. But, I don't think he's anywhere near ready to be a head coach. But, then again, if you have really good coordinators, that can run the offense and defense, it would make a huge difference. Look at that asshat Garrett in Dallas. He sucks, but he's got good coordinators.

An offensive minded HC and promote Duce to OC. I would not mind that happening.

Duce played for one team peak pretty much and then was the RB coach under Andy. He might take the best of AR and the best of Kelly and put them together.

Most HCs are gonna bring in their guyS.

Payton would be the one that might not.

But if Marrine (please no) or McDaniels is the guy they would bring their own guys in.

A DC coach like McDermott might elevate Duce to OC.
