OJ Howard would look mighty good playing in green. 6-6 235 and runs a 4.6. Matchup nightmare!!!!!
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

I wanna reach through the screen and choke Saban
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

I despise Saban with every fiber of my being but as Alabama's head coach he becomes even more reprehensible in my mind. Alabama is a crappy university in a shit red neck state filled with all too many mouth breathing low life fucks. A PhD from Alabama ranks just below a GED from the worst high school in Mississippi...the state that boasts the 2nd worst education system in the country after Alabama.

If they didn't have the 33rd NFL team to droll over, the average male would spend all his waking hours fucking farm animals instead of taking 3 hours off a week during football season to jerk off while he watches the professional team that he worships from the shitty school that neither he nor any member of his family ever attended.

Sadly, to a large portion of the red neck white fucks...male and female...for whom the 'Tide' football team is their very reason for existing, black males are still 'niggers' and 'spooks' unless they can play football well. Then they temporarily acceptable as long as they don't make it too obvious that they're pleasuring a good portion of the white coeds.

                Fuck Alabama!

I'm half kidding here! Well, maybe 1/10th kidding.

                  TP

That's over the top sir. Birmingham is a very colorful city. Maybe no east coast color but colorful nonetheless.

Been there many times and surprisingly there is a good deal of respect and harmony between races.

                    AW,

Guilty as charged. WAY over the top.

Your partly right... maybe mostly right about 'modern' Alabama. I spent some time in Alabama and Mississippi myself back in the day. My memories of the bad days in Alabama are ingrained and hard to forget.

While there are many...maybe even a majority of Alabamians who now interact cordially and respectfully with blacks, I know from first hand recent experience that there remains a not insignificant minority of whites who are hard core, vocal, blatant racists. Unfortunately they're not all old timers. They are for the most part poorer, less educated whites who hold on tenaciously to the reassuring concept of having some one to look down on.

But my main gripe is not with the state but with the semi-pro football team, it's snake of a HC and the hordes of worshipful fans who have absolutely no connection with the school but who engage in some pretty over the top acts in demonstrating their love for the Crimson Tide. And I do regard the subset of Tide fans that are racists as hypocrites for the obvious reason that the team's great success is primarily dependent on black players.

I really do apologize if my hyperbole was offensive. Nick Saban brings out the very worst in me. My rant was mostly tongue in cheek mixed with a sprinkling of what I truly believe about a sizable minority of Tide fans.

TP. Are you trying to imply that you were emotional after the outcome of an athletic contest didn't go your way

I am not old enough to remember George Wallace but I have traveled to the worst parts of "the delta" and the worst parts of Alabama (see Montgomery). But I have also been to Tupelo, Oxford, Jackson, Birmingham, Huntsville. The south has made progress.

Still some racial issues but I think the integration they now enjoy is genuine and healthy.

As for Saban, I don't think he cheats more or less than any other coach. And in states like Bama, Nebraska, Iowa, Kentucky... College sports just runs the show because there are no pro teams. Very un east coast like.

                        .
                        Me? Get emotional? Impossible!

Like Spock, I am devoid of all emotions and consider all aspects of life solely with cold logic.

OK, so maybe my wife thinks I have PTSD. What does she know? We've only been married 47 years.

                        Final observation:

As I was finally going to sleep early this AM I remembered another Alabamian I'd met in the 60s. He was one of the sweetest, most decent people I've EVER met in my life. A young guy with an accent so thick and flowing that it was 3 weeks before I could figure out his name and just where he was from. We worked together for a summer for the Green Giant Corp out in Dayton, Washington. The day we met he stuck out his hand and said, "Umvanchambersfromflorillaalabama". All one word.

Got to know Van Chambers from Florilla, Alabama pretty good during the 2 months we worked and drank beer together. I don't think he had an ounce of prejudice in him. He thought George Wallace was an embarrassment.

                        So there's that!

I think we've all grown here today. And that's what's important

That and that Jerry Jones contract anal cancer.

                              Well put!

And Roger Goodell, who is the the moral equivalent of a malignant hemorrhoid on Jones' ass is letting Jones run the league.
