  • People seem persuaded Wentz will be available at #2.

I'm trying to get 'up to date' on the facts/speculation regarding the expectation that the Rams will take Goff at #1 and that Wentz will, therefore, be available to the Birds at #2.

We've just gotten home after 4 days on the road and I'm trying to wrap my head around all this. A number of guys here on EFO seem to regard it as a fait accompi that the Birds WILL be getting Wentz. I've read that the Rams 'appear to prefer Goff'. Is anyone aware of anything substantial to support this belief.

I'm not asking this to be a smart ass or to take pokes at Howie. I'm really interested in knowing if there is anything beyond the usual pre-draft speculation from the self appointed experts and assorted media hacks.

As I stated in another thread, I'm pleased that the Birds are in position to draft a potential 'franchise QB' even if I don't like the cost in draft picks and the excessive amount of the cap that will likely be consumed by the QB position. What troubles me is that, having gone all in, they don't seem to control events.

Any insights regarding this question will be appreciated.

I personally would take Wentz first because I think he has the stronger arm. But both he and Goff in my opinion are rated like 7.5, so they are about even. Its like Vanilla or Chocolate, which one do you like.

I believe the Rams are taking Goff and that is the reason why Cleveland traded out because they wanted Goff.
Were from Philly F in Philly no one likes us we DON'T CARE!

I guess we only have to watch the draft for about 10 minutes the first night as the Rams and Birds will be picking quickly. I saw Goff a couple of times this year and he didn't look worthy of any of the hype to tell you the truth as Cal got smoked. I hope we get Wentz.

My guess is that the speculation that Goff is a Cal guy is a factor in people believing LA will take him.
But I think Fisher and the birds have a bit of a thing. Someone likes someone else enough that they talk straight talk to each other. I think they worked out the Foles/Bradford deal together and think they worked this out as well. Kind of a "of course it is no guarantee but we are leaning xoxoxox".
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
        Hope is not a strategy

The 2 share an agent so it's possible the agent knows for sure what's going on.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Howie seemed awfully smug at hismpresser. It may or may not be Wentz, but he seemed secure that we would get who he wanted. Intimated that there has been behind the scenes talks with the Rams.

Thanks ND (and Taz for the 'Cleveland wanting only Goff' slant).

While obviously no 'guarantee', the apparent existence of a Birds/Fisher relationship makes the idea of shared information a lot more plausible than idle speculation most media 'experts'.

And thanks Popper, AW and Fresh. I'm starting to believe!

Of course, that's often fatal for fans of Philly teams.
