On a related side note, on a gross basis irrespective of population, based on an article I read maybe a year ago, I think Brazil has the second-highest number of NFL fans outside the U.S. of any country in the world, behind Mexico. Canada (#1) and Mexico (a close #2) have by far the highest number of NFL fans on a per capita basis outside the U.S. However, if I correctly remember what I read in that same article, on a per capita basis Brazil is comparable and possibly higher than a handful of European countries, like the United Kingdom and Germany, where the NFL is currently or in the past has focused international growth efforts.

Incidentally, I found the article I read; it was published in early 2015. Brazil actually has a higher number of NFL fans per capita than the U.K., Germany, or Spain. On the other hand, Brazil has fewer fans per capita than not only Canada and Mexico, but also Australia, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia. All of the aforementioned countries rank in the top 10 for the total number of NFL fans outside the U.S.

Well, I'm glad that I'm not the only one. Being from southwestern virginia, my family had that southern color and culture. Different time as well as my parents were born in the late 30s . My spending my teen and twenties years in the DC area in the 80s and 90s ..... totally different environment than what they grew up in. My parents....my sweet dear old mother in particilar......had a variety of phrases that she used on a regular basis that you just don't use in modern American culture. Amazing the difference a generation makes.http://shop.cafepress.com/content/global/img/spacer.gifOK, let's try this again...
