  • Moats does not sound confident to me

From his blog. No way the Eagles cut him.......can they ?

"I'm one of those bubble guys. I know it. I know where I stand. Tonight is a big night. We're here in North Jersey where we get to play the Jets. I still believe that blocking is going to be the No. 1 difference for me. I've spent a lot of extra time following practice this week with coach Bill Shuey, who has helped me out from the start. Thanks to his help, I think I've upgraded my blocking a little bit.

But this whole preseason, I've been trying to find my niche in the run game and I'm still trying to do that.

I know that the final cuts are due Saturday. I'm not focused on making a roster spot. I'm trying to make Ryan Moats better, no matter where that may be.

I think it's great that I will get more playing time tonight. I don't know exactly how much, but the time will help. I'm ready for it.

I have to thank my teammates for helping me so much mentally over the past 1 1/2 years. When you talk to another running back, it helps so much more because they see on the field what you see. I watch Brian Westbrook in practice everyday because he is the one who might run a play right - from seeing the hole, waiting for the blocks, making the right but, etc.

I'm not any more nervous for tonight's game. It's just football. It's what I've done my entire life. I just have to go play the way I know how. "

It sounds like a concession speech.

I agree that he doesn't sound like a guy that feels like he'll make the squad.Hope he comes around but time is running out.Still think he makes the team but if a guy like Sudds or Duce come onboard he becomes more bubbleicious.
Just give me ONE before I go!

Well, let me state clearly I think it would be a mistake to let Moats go...he showed last year he can be a game breaker and if he is putting in extra work on his blocking that is good news IMO...I agree with him that is the issue that is hurting him.

Remember when many of us were concerned about Westy and Bucky blocking? Well, they both have come a long way especially Westy who is very good IMO now...I think Moats can improve.

If they keep Mahe over Moats, that would IMO shatter the whole "dedicated to taking the best 53" theory which seems apparent so far this season...

It does sound like a concession speech. We had better not cut him. If he gets released, I want a LB for him or us to sign Davis.

Sorry I disagree- a bit-- I think it's just a guy trying not to be cocky and knows that "it's not in the bag".

I also agree that it would be a mistake to let him go--- you can't teach what he brings.

                    Totally agree

This isn't Moats diary. It's Moats blog to the fans. I think what he wrote is how all NFL 2nd and 3rd depth chart guys feel. They know they need to improve and they are working on for their career...whether with their current team or their next team.

If they let Moats go, someone picks him up and will reap the benefits of a player who has tons of talent
