  • IS #14 TOO EARLY For McCaffery?

I watched the Combine on Friday & what I saw out of Christian McCaffery just blew me away! He ran a 4.49 Fourty, had a great Vertical & Broad jump but what really stood out to me was how he performed in the on field drills. The ball never hit the ground as he caught everything thrown his way. I watched this kid quite a bit at Stanford & he's a helluva talent. He can play HB, Slot, Split him out wide, Return Punts & KO's really ,really well. Now some of you guys might be thinking about Mike Mamula but I just don't see it. I don't know if The Birds like this Kid at #14 but whoever does draft him will be getting a Stud! To me he's got Patriots written all over him but after watching him yesterday, I don't think he'll last until #32. The fact he's got great genes from Mom Dad certainly doesn't hurt either. Gonna be interesting to see where he lands in the Draft.I j ust don't know

I don't think the kid goes until round 2 or 3 J. He strikes me as a slot receiver ala Amendola or Welker. He also suffers from white prejudice. I've seen him too and I'm not sold at RB. I thought Stanford made a big mistake playing him there to tell you the truth. The kid is a nice player in space. He'll probably be a Patriot and go to the HOF.

My Brother's Golf Buddy Mike Mayock was saying that you "gotta have a plan on how to use this Kid", whether if it's 10-15 plays a game or whatever but, He's a real "difference maker" and a definite 1st rd pick IMO.
Check out all of the Mock Drafts that come out after the Combine.
QB's, WR's, and TE's coming up on NFL Network.

Of course I could be all wrong J! I don't think that you draft a #1 to play 10-15 plays per game though. If I remember right you were right on target with Amendola years ago.

The added Bonus with this Kid is the ST's factor on Punt Returns & KO's. I gotta think Dave Fipp (ST's Coach) would do Cartwheels, lol!

At least we are in good shape at that spot with Sproles and Smallwood (kickoff returns).

He is a round 2 guy. Sorry think he will be a good pro but not a game changer.

The red flag for me went up on Donnell Pumphrey the kid out of San Diego State. He gets compared to Sproles but I don't see it. Not a stout looking kid at all. And not super fast... ran a 4.49.

              Think he is gonna disappoint.

I will also say Jabrill Peppers is going to drop like a stone. Only measured 5-9 which is just way too short. I am not going to be surprised if he makes it because the kid has a lot of football smarts and survived and thrived in Big 10 but there is no way a 5-9 kid gets picked in top 50.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Not to nit-pick, but McCaffrey's bench press was disappointing, wasn't it? May have a bearing on how he holds up to the brutal NFL.

I'm drawing a blank here. When was the last time a white RB lasted more than a year or 2 fully healthy ? Woodhead is constantly hurt, who else ?
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

There is just no way that he goes in round 1. Not going to happen.

Curtis Samuel 40-Yard Dash Time At NFL Combine

Curtis Samuel’s 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine, as the former Ohio State running back looks to increase his draft stock.

Curtis Samuel had a productive career at Ohio State: national champion in 2014 and first-team All-Big Ten in 2016 after rushing for 771 yards and eight touchdowns while also catching 74 passes for 865 yards and seven scores.

He’s now taking the spotlight as one of the players turning heads at the NFL Combine.

Samuel ran a 4.31 40-yard dash at the league’s showcase event, meeting expectations that he would be one to watch at the annual gathering in Indianapolis.

One of the many reasons scouts are excited about the former Buckeye is his versatility. He’s able to line up in the backfield and pound the ball on the ground while using his receiving skills to become another threat in the passing game. Many scouts have stated that they see him as a wide receiver at the next level, especially in the slot position. He was in a group with receivers during workouts.

At 5-foot-11 and 197 pounds, Samuel is explosive when turning up the engine, but he will have to get better at route running if he becomes a wide receiver, as projected. No matter where he lands, an NFL team should consider itself very lucky to be able to draft such an explosive player.

Can he play CB?? Cause if not, #14 it too early for him.
