  • So...How good are we?

Maybe I am too much of a homer, but I have a sneaking suspicion that we may actually be really darn good. Might we even be Superbowl caliber?

Afterall, in this modern day NFL, so you never know…

I too have a feeling that this might just be our year. This team has always played better as the underdog and I think we are going to sneak up on people this year.

I feel great right up until I look at the schedule and see those last 8 games. I can't imagine a more user unfriendly schedule. But if we're healthy after the BYE I think we can do it. Man that schedule sucks though.

I don't think that schedule is as bad as everyone thinks. Every year, top team fade (see Iggles 2005) and bad teams rise (see Chicago, Dullass, Seattle and Skins, 2005). You just don't know how injuries, free agents, coaching, momentum, etc. will affect teams. I think the Skins will suck by the mid point, and I think Dallas will not be that great once TO or Glenn go down. Then there is Bledsoe and TO's affect on the team.

I think we are the best that we have ever been. From top to bottom, and the coaching staff, we have very little holes. We already beat the injury jinx , which allowed us to get rid of dead weight. Karma says this is our year.................finally.

I believe it so much that I just spoke with my sister yesterday about scheduling for the trip to Miami. We have to get our ticket contacts and reservations straight now......if I expect to go to another Superbowl for free.

The schedule looks tough now - but a few of those teams could stumble. Just like in 2002 when we looked at the schedule and saw that they hadto play Arizona at home, fly to San Francisco for MNF, fly back to Philadelphia to have a 2001 NFCCG re-match on a short week and then fly back out to Seattle.

I've had a good feeling about this team for awhile now. Several things that I like are; Reid's attitude, McNabb's physique and attitude as well as the defense.

Well there are a couple bright spots for me in that the Skins really sucked in pre-season but I worry that Jesus may have something up his sleeve but it better be good because they really looked bad. And McNabb does look totally unbeatable. Next Sunday cannot come soon enough!

I also don't see the schedule as a big deal. We play Dallas, Wash and NY every year so there is a lot of comfort in the fact that the three in a row comes against teams we know better than any others. And let's face it, NY and Wash are a simple bus ride away. If we had todeal with flying to the West coast, coming home, going back, then coming home again and going back out again - that's a much different issue that sitting on the bus for a 90 minute drive. Hell some of us have commutes that long every day!!!

Call me a homer, but coming down the stretch with an Andy Reid coached team fighting for a post-season role, I feel bad for the opposition. Big Red has a way of putting it together and pulling off whatever is needed. When opponents later this year look at facing McNabb and the 21 century version of the Broad Street Bullies, they are the ones who will have some serious concerns.

Also don't forget that we'll probably be resting our starters for the last three games

                    FD,

You hit on the point that has been gnawing at me, why is it that when there is any discussion of an improved NFC East, the discussion has focused on how it means the Eagles will not do as well.

Why isn't there the discussion (like you so aptly touched on) about how other teams in the NFC East should fear a resurgent Eagles team.
