A guy being interviewed on Fox just reported that after an hour long phone call the leader of China said "I will take steps to neutralize North Korea". They have moved 175,000 troops to the North Korean border. If true Trump's ratings should skyrocket I imagine.

I think the world needed a reminder that for the most part we run this bitch.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Just another example that our military isn't as bad as some make it out to be. They've been screwing around in too many countries for too many years. That, and politics, are the biggest 'problem' with the military. If the U.S. wants to overrun a country they can. If they want to wipe out Al Queda they can. If they want to wipe out ISIS they can.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy

Couple of points --- while I agree we can.... will the American PC people accept the civilian casualties that would occur? People forget what war is, and politics/politicians nowadays worry more about elections than they do about actually winning a war. And IMM this is a war!

Everyone should watch the interview that (I think Gutfeld) with the guy who lost both legs to an IED, just clearing out a town, that was empty because we told them we were coming in-- but the town was a supply depot of IEDs/Mines and the like --- and they asked for bombing that would level this town--- but were told that no they must go in on foot. So we had human casualties because the military was told that we could not just wipe out a town--- cause the optics would be bad. Such bullshit!

While I am definitely NOT a globalist, if strongly feel that if you are going to send in troops and fight--- then fight to win and get the hell out. The middle east is a cesspool -- they deserve what they get IMM, but since we are their then let the Military do it's job.

I've said it time and time again. It started in Vietnam when people couldn't stand seeing the carnage and everyone wants to believe in battlefield honor. Right. Battlefield honor. If you go to war (and don't get me started on no one having the balls to declare or vote for war) you go to take away their will to fight.
While I have no use for Assad and believe he should be taken out like the others I have to say I understand his use of chem weapons. He is at war and will do anything to stop the other side. That ain't pretty but war is not pretty and people should think much more carefully before sending people into battle. If you are going to take someone like him on you better beat him until the death because he will do that to you if he gets a chance.
Anyway I am off topic. For all Trump's ranting about the military being depleted and weak and knowing more than the generals I have said all along bullshit. He is no different than the others. He has weapons at his disposal if he wants to use them. And he has come to find out that the generals know FAR MORE about what is going on than he did or that he gave them credit for.
Just like he said after talking to the Chinese leader that North Korea is far more complicated. Or that he was going to identify China as a currency manipulator but not now. Or when he said he would appoint a prosecutor for Hillary. Or when he said who knew healthcare could be so complicated. Or when he said he would have a great relationship with Russia but now says relations might be as bad as they have ever been between the countries. The one thing I give him credit for is that for all his talk he didn't know his ass from his balls but he is learning. And that is the most important thing because many knew that he couldn't do all the crap he was spouting while many (not all mind you but many) just bobbleheaded along thinking he could drain the swamp with a magic wand

LOL. If you tell me that anybody in the congress or basically on the planet can explain an EOB I'll FedEx you a half gallon of Johnny Walker immediately. In fact I doubt that they've ever even seen one. I know Trump hasn't, and if he did he'd find it much more difficult to comprehend that one of his blueprints for the empire that he's building! I'm not faulting him for that because I think that was what he was referring to. We all know by now he does have his own language.

I understand that MD. I'm a libertarian in a cherry red state. A number of very republican friends have told me the same thing. But I ask them whether he is lying and knows he is lying when he says that stuff or whether he has no idea of what he is talking about when he says the stuff and then changes. The most I get from them is that it doesn't matter. So the guy either lies or is stupid, has to be one or the other, but it doesn't matter. I don't understand that.
Personally I don't think he is a great intellect but I do think he is very shrewd. I have said since the beginning I think he has an excellent chance of having a successful presidency. As someone said it is like being on an airplane. Everyone on that flight wants the pilot to be successful. But I think he is a pos who has always had what he wants and the hell with the other guy. And I think he is potentially dangerous as president

Sounds like your friends are right there ND--- you seem to be worrying way too much about what and how he sez things.

                    1. Campaigns are very different then actually being there. Happens with every guy elected.

                    2. Part of his appeal is that he ISN'T your typical politician and he wants the world to know that.

                    3. Part of what got him elected was that he didn't speak in PC'ness ALL the time.

                    4. He likes being UNPREDICTABLE and I think that is also part of his strategy so he is able to deal more effectively.

                    5. Any World Leader should be FLEXIBLE on issues and be willing to change on the fly if it benefits his train of thought of what is best for the country.

Actually I find him quite refreshing in how he has dealt with many issues already.

I heard a couple of interesting things today. One was the theory that maybe we caused the failed missile that North Korea fired by hacking their computers. They interviewed some important ranking woman that said the usual "I can't tell you one way or the other because we can't comment on such things" and kind of had a smirk on her face. The other was that North Korea has massive troops on their southern border and the mother bomb can wipe out anything within a one mile radius so we don't have to nuke them to control them and protect
                      South Korea.

You're probably right MD yet I still haven't heard anyone address if he was intentionally lying or didn't know enough about his decisions. I'd find it hard to believe that you would find it refreshing to be lied to so you must come down on the 'he didn't understand the world enough when he walked into the office' side of things.
60 you, and most everyone else, would be amazed at some of the things the military has. There is little doubt that the U.S. could fry a countries communications and electronic infrastructure at any time. I'm not sure the U.S. would ever, ever use a nuc unless the world was coming to an end or a madman was in charge and even at that the military or someone would stop him. The MOAB in and of itself can do a whole lot but it can't stop a war unless it is dropped on a population center. I've advocated many times the U.S. lack of will when it comes to war so dropping it on a population center isn't likely. It, like all weapons systems, has a role. Frying the infrastructure is a role I think useful

It sure would be nice to know if we could actually screw up missiles launched by that sick bastard. He's the kind of guy who would fire them on his deathbed because he's not going to be around to suffer the consequences.

I don't know if I've told this story or not, but when I was at the Y I knew this younger Korean guy who thought things would get better when their leader finally croaked and his son took over control. I told him that I doubted it because any show of weakness by a dictator means that he's going to be taken out. The last time that I saw him he didn't have much to say.

ND--- IMM Do you know how to tell when a politician (or candidate) is lying? Of course you do anytime their mouth is moving. Do I like it? No, but it is the real world. So I have always lived the philosophy that I do-- judge what they do --- not what they say. They ALL do it and have done it... Yes ALL. Of course it isn't right, but it is and always has been and will be. Especially so now that these guys are just running from election to the next election...... (Term limits would be somewhat of a help).
Candidates aren't privy to ALL the info nor do they care-- their goal is to win the election. Once elected a new perspective is brought to bear! But they also are all cognizant of the next election cycle. Our system is screwed up right now..... Millions of people vote just because of the D or the R, millions more vote based on one or two selfish issues, the moral decay in this country has spread to too many people, IMO.

Again this all goes back to Vietnam and PC'ness. The OPTICS of war now seem to matter more than the results of a war. A lot of this has to do with TV and the internet -- "snowflakes" (I like that term) now actually get to see the horrors of war not just read or listen on the radio to them, and they shutter. They can not see beyond their own noses that this is not a kumbaya world ---- it never, ever, since time began, has been.
