  • One opinion on how Philly performed during the draft

This was written by a NY writer who is also a Cowboy's fan. I expected it to rip Philly and the Eagles fans, but he goes way beyond my expectations! Hell, if wecould win over him, maybe we'll get it again next year!

WATCH: Philly fans show why the NFL Draft should be in Philadelphia every year
The fans in Philadelphia did their best to make the 2017 NFL Draft more fun

I'll start here: I am a Dallas Cowboys fan (I have made very little attempt to hide that fact in this space), so I am not exactly predisposed to looking all that kindly upon the fine fans in the city of Philadelphia. Rivalries work that way.

That said: THE DRAFT SHOULD BE HELD IN PHILADELPHIA EVERY YEAR BECAUSE THE PHILLY FANS BROUGHT IT THIS WEEKEND AND IT WAS INCREDIBLE.

Even watching on TV, it was the best atmosphere I've seen at any draft in the 30 years I've been alive.
Eagles fans were going absolutely nuts for the entirety of Thursday and Friday night, starting right from the jump when they booed the absolute hell out of commissioner Roger Goodell.

They did their "Fly Eagles, Fly" routine for every single Eagles draft pick, singing so loudly that you could barely hear whoever was on TV breaking down each selection. They saved the loudest boos for Washington, the Giants, and the Cowboys, and especially, for Cowboys legend Drew Pearson, who egged them on like he was a professional wrestler .

They happily obliged in going as crazy as possible and trying to drown out everything he said.

They knew which players had inspirational stories, and cheered them loudly. They knew which had off-field issues and made sure to let the world know that they didn't approve.

They made a two-day event where men in suits wandered onto a stage to read the names of other men that may or may not have been in suits, way more fun than it had any business being. I know the league is considering moving the draft all over the country to different NFL cities, but it's hard to imagine any of them creating a better environment than the one we saw these last two days. Just keep the draft in Philly for the foreseeable future.

Yeah..... That'll almost happen. Logic has no place where $$$$$$$$ may be involved.

Appreciate the guy going past his natural instincts to praise Philly.

And I am extremely happy in the way the normally prehistoric phans conducted themselves for this one. Good job!

I'm sure some shit piece will pop up about some cowboy fan getting punched in his teeth, but all in all it looked impressive.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

To tell you the truth I think the booing of Goodell is getting old. The fans have more than made their point so let it go. It really distracts what is going on and is getting embarrassing. To tell you the truth other than siding with the owners with the last strike I don't' have any problem with the guy.

Jim Cramer usually is a fired up guy who failed miserably. I think it was a bad choice anyway because the draft is really a celebration for the fans and not a celebrity show. I watched the whole thing on the NFL Channel and they did a real good job with the whole event and Mayock is 10 times better than Mel Kiper "who the hell is Mell Kiper" was the greatest moment of any draft that I've ever seen LOL! I wish that they could have had a little more coverage of the enormity of the event though. And you have to applaud Luri's to resurrect the team song adds so much energy to the Eagle Nation!

Kinda agree that Rodger gets booed sorta like the Eagles and Santa story always comes up. Sorta old now.

He does get booed everywhere. We may as well make sure we do it best.

I'd like some star player to step up and encourage people to stop it. How about Tom Brady?

i was there Saturday night and it was an absolute blast! My wife daughter and I booed every Redskin, Giant and Cowboy selection. It was so much fun drowning out Drew Pearson! I know they will move it and frankly i don't blame them if they did. Each NFL city should get a chance to host! I don't think anyone will ever be able to top what I witnessed but they should at least get the chance!

Very cool Rob! I imagine that you were outside because they didn't come across on tv like that. They kept saying it was nuts but they must have either muffled it or maybe inside it was just not as big of a Philly crowd. Could you breathe out there or did you have some room.

i went friday night. We had room to breathe but it was still crowded. Everyone was outside. They had sections for seating but you were still outside. I think they muffled the response if it didn't come across on TV! I mean it was loud! You couldn't hear anything! The players from the NFC East teams seem to take it in stride and kept egging Eagles fans on! It was a lot of fun! The second loudest boo was for anything New England! I think EVERYONE there out side of Pats fans booed anything New England. Not sure if that was mentioned.

Not even a whisper Rob. I think that I'm started to hate them more than NY and Dallas. They are the biggest bandwagon fans in football period. You couldn't find one before they won a SB. Now everybody in the world buys their crap around here. I was a bigger fan of them than most people up here for crying out loud until they won the second one and started coming out of the woodwork.

For me no matter what NE does, I will hold my highest contempt for the other 3 NFC east teams especially the biggest turd in the NFL, the cowboys.

This just reinforces what Eagles fans have known all along- we are the most loyal and not afraid to show it. And we hate the NFC East teams equally- ragging on Dallas is just a little more fun 😏

The ragging on Dallas was the most fun. But giving it to Jesse Armstead and London Fletcher was fun too!

I'm not surprised nothing was mentioned about the booing the Pats got. I mean EVERYBODY booed them! Giant fans, Bronco fans, Steeler fans, Jax fans, Bucs fans i mean EVERYBODY booed anything NE!
