  • Wentz with some eye popping stats-USA TODAY

    1. Carson Wentz can hit the long ball

In his 21st career start, Wentz played one of his best games on Sunday afternoon. He completed 21 of his 30 passes for 304 yards and a career-high four touchdowns, including three in the first quarter.

Wentz has been impressive all season, especially on third down, where he has a 137.7 passer rating, six touchdowns and a 71.1 percent completion rate. Against the Cardinals, Wentz finished 11-for-12 for 229 yards and three touchdowns on third down.

Two of those touchdowns were over 50 yards — a 59-yard bomb to Torrey Smith and a 72-yard strike to Agholor to put the nail in the coffin.

The Eagles are 4-1, and Wentz is a big reason why.

Yea the bandwagon is getting revved up. Need to temper the hype.
He has all the tools but he also made a bad decision (throw) or two against the Cards; although all QBs do that. It is obvious he is smart and that he studies the game plan. With the added skill players around him and the in game experience his potential is becoming evident.

IMO, Wentz actually played very well against the Chargers too (better than his stats would indicate); it was one of the best games in his career prior to the Cardinals game (which considering all factors may have been the best game of his career up to this point). Wentz' last two games have been very encouraging after a reasonably good but unspectacular (IMO) start to the season in the first three games.

The other thing that I observe is that he is a leader out there (as much as a fan can tell from watching the game).

I agree with ND, too. It is a bit early to anoint him. He is doing well and progressing. My eagles pessimism keeps me in check.

          Wentz 2 biggest strengths.

He can really throw with touch when needed.

He can move in the pocket but keeps looking downfield.

I would add he seems to not care about stats... nobody does really. They all seem to be focused on moving the football. Whatever it takes. Even Blount who seems like he could be a me guy.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

That leadership take is a good point. Players know me first guys-- Jay Cutler may be a great example. Wentz isn't a me first guy. He is just a good person and other players can respect that

He's a franchise QB for us anyway (whatever that means). He's going to be here for another 10 years.

I rally like everything about the kid. He has the size, brains, dedication, attitude and a thin enough skin to get this town (I’m talking to you Donovan!) If he keeps progressing and keeps the same attitude going forward the sky really is the limit!

The Rams game is going to be a really interesting one in a few weeks. The comparisons of Wentz and Goff and the inevitable question of whether the Rams made the right call in passing on Wentz.....

Love it or hate it, it will be the lead up story for the entire week.
