  • Observations from yesterday’s game

Wow! After coming out and getting a million yards in penalties on the first drive, they right the ship and throttle the Deadskins

    1. Ladies and Gentlemen Carson Wentz. Amazing game after some early adversity. Put the team on his back and said follow me.

    2. Derrick Barnett had his coming out party last night, 2 sacks including a huge one toward the end of the game and 3 TFL

    3. Shout out to Jason Peters on what could be the end to a great career. Stick around to continue to threaten Elliot with no more misses Bro

    4. Doug Pederson is the first coach to win me over in a long time. He understands his team, his players and knows what to dial up to get them going. Smart move to go to the hurry up.

    5. Linebacker is a concern going forward, Kendrick’s with his usual soft tissue injury. Hicks done for the year. Walker and Goode are special teams guys. Too bad this happened a week later Bowman would have been a great replacement for Hicks. Major concern going forward. Scwartz will earn his money

    6. Zach Ertz great move for the TD. Once again we are watching the best tight end in football.

    7. Jake Elliot another 50yard field goal. This kid is something special. Shout out to Joe Douglas and Howie for finding this kid

    8. Corey Clement and Mack Hollins way to step up rookies. Both with excellent TD Catches.

    9. Corey Graham played a ton As did Watkins. Scwartz was playing Jenkins down in a linebacker position as the game went on. Interesting adjustment. Both Graham and Watkins played well.

    10. Ed Hoccoli made his point early but FUCK HIM and the NFL with this record setting penalties against the Eagles every week, no team has ever started the game with 4 concective penalties. Granted two were legit but the other two should not have been called. After that the game was officiated well. So I can only think that this was retaliation and quite frankly that is appalling.

Best team in the NFL, Best QB in the NFL, Best Run Defense in the NFL. One of the best Coaches. Who would have thought we would have said that at the beginning of the year.
Were from Philly F in Philly no one likes us we DON'T CARE!

    A few things I’d add.

The LB issue is Goode and Walker looked lost not just overmatched. We are thinner at LB than is comfortable now and this makes it worse. But next man up.

I wonder if we will see some shuffling along the front. Meaning... lane to LT, Brooks to RT, and a new RG?

What was most encouraging about Barnett was he appears to be learning.

Tory Smith is trash. Hollins is a better player right now.

Jenkins played his best game of the year I thought.

One Skins observation... man is Pryor a bust.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

You could call a penalty on every play I believe but you don't. You call things that are obvious, impact the play, etc. Those calls were a message I fully believe and it could happen again at a bad time in an important game. Eagle brass needs to talk to NFL and make sure this is settled IMO.
Wentz is the man. He stood in a collapsing pocket a few times to throw a strike. He ran when he needed. But he has to watch the hits. You can only take so many and it only takes one bad one to derail your train.
Young players are starting to show their impact. Hollins, Clement, Barnett. Be nice to see what our training table CB brings when he shows up.
LB is an issue. Walker/Goode have been around so they should know the program. Maybe getting the reps will help them. Too bad they don't have 8 days between games this week but it is SF so the pressure shouldn't be so bad and they can get a little more PT to refine how they are going to work. Scouring the wire has to be in process.
Bottom line though is the LBs need to make it happen in the wide 9.
I've never been a fan of Blount and last night didn't do anything to win me over. He is okay. Give him a big hole and he will have a big run. He wears down a D because he is hard to bring down. But he doesn't break anything that isn't there. Hell LittleDick fought for some hard yards early in the game and was tough to bring down.
Have some tough games ahead, have a couple against some better than average but not great teams (Den and Sea) and there are also a couple of clunkers (SF and Chi) that should go our way. Need at least four of them but six would be real nice.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
      Hope is not a strategy
      RIP

-How about those WR's last night ? They were snagging everything and making some pretty tough catches at times.

-The amount of penalties were ridiculous. But, unlike the Morelli game, I thought we actually deserved 90% of them.

-Walker looked totally lost. We have to get Kendricks back and also sign another backup MLB. Just when our secondary might start getting healthy, our LB's are taking a hit.

-Praying that Peters has a sprain and not a tear. Losing Hicks is bad. But, losing Peters is a worse hit IMO.

-Bradham is still a beast. He was the only starter quality LB we had last night.

-I thought the FG attempt at the end was stupid. A miss gives the Skins better field position. A block could have been a nightmare. At least the D shut things down. It's not like we were really close to losing after recovering the onside kick. But, we have all seen crazier comebacks. Why not go for it on 4th and 3 and have Wentz rollout. A first down and we run out the clock.

I would add 3-4 fronts seem to give them trouble but with Peters out this is an even bigger concern. Need Kendricks back ASAP! Joe and Howie will scour for LB depth. Goode and Walker were completely lost. RBs are TERRIBLE in pass pro!
Even with all that this team continues to amaze me! I cannot believe Wentz has won me over this quickly! I am so glad for this win !

We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Rewatching the game now. Alshon Jeffrey played very well last night, won’t show up in the stats, but had face mask penalty, an illegal contact and a PI called on the man covering him. I would argue he was mugged on another one to that wasn’t called. It’s the little things that don’t show up on the stats sheets that sometimes mean a ton. that PI on him was on a 3rd down and let to the Ertz TD right before half

He had a nice WOW play too on that catch on the sidelines. I'm thinking that he's enjoying winning more than being a constant target on a shit team like he was with Chicago. At least that's what he says when asked.

He is certainly enjoying himself. I wonder if he takes a slightly below market deal to stay here?

It's going to be interesting to see how many of these guys buy into the culture that the Eagles seem to be building. Then again maybe it's a one year thing and everybody goes their own way. Losing Peters sure didn't help as he was the Big Pappi of the Eagles.

he already did for this season, don't think that is likely again. At this point in his career, this might be his last big score.

I think that he will play long term for what he gets paid now. It's not like he's going to put up huge numbers and break the bank someplace else. He's not going to get top 5 money anyplace.
