  • OT - Direct TV NFL Sunday Ticket

Hey guys. I signed up for the sunday ticket a few weeks back.

One thing that bothers me, is that they don't have a listing for games that are in HD. Even when I ask customer service about the matter, they skirt around the issue.

Does anyone know just how many games are actually in HD ? Is it most of them ?

I think you have to buy the Superfan HD package?

Not sure I'm understanding you correctly. You get every game if you have the Ticket, unless your local team is blacked out. I have it here in Philly and if the Eagles are on Fox at 1pm and the VaGiants are on Fox at 4pm and some AFC teams are playing on CBS at 4pm I get all of those games on the regular over-air channels (29 and 3 here in Philly.) Then up on channels 704-715 are all the rest of the games. If you check out those channels now on your dish you'll see each game. For example on 704 it says "upcoming game Falcons @ Panthers"

oh and you don't need the SuperFan package to see the games. That package includes things like the channel that shows all the games at once and the Red Zone channel that automatically goes to any game where a team's offense is inside the 20 yard line.

          QuitoPhan,

I know that I get all the games that are not blacked out. But, I just did not think they were all broadcast in HD. DirectTV quotes that over 110+ games are broadcast in HD. But, if there are 14 games a week, then that is over 200+ games with the Sunday Ticket. So, I had thought that some of them would not be broadcast in HD>

The SuperFan package is kind of a scam. They make it look like you need this package to see the games in HD. Just today, I heard a local radio station mentioning that you need SuperFan to see the games in HD. After hearing this, I immediately called DirectTV to complain about it (because they told me earilier you do not need SuperFan). They reassured me again today that you do not need SuperFan to get the games in HD. I think they want people to believe that SuperFan is required for HD. I really don't want SuperFan, but I have to have the games in HD if they are available.

          Thanks guys,

You DO need SuperFan to get the games in High Definition. They told me the same crap last year and when week one started, NO HD!! I freaked out so they reduced the price to $50 instead of $100. The NFL HD channels are in the 719 - 725 range. For example: this week the regular broadcast of the Eagles vs. Texans is on channel 707, The HD broadcast is on 722. If you don't see channel 722 you aint gettin it in HD. If you do see 722 you still might not get it, You need SuperFan for NFL games in HD.

If this is true (and it probably is), then that is complete CRAP.

I just looked at chanell 722, and it does in fact mention needing SuperFan to view it.

I have been guaranteed by 3 different DirectTV customer service reps that I would get the games in HD. But, I have this strange feeling that you are going to be correct. I even told the last guy that I was going to be one unhappy customer if I had to call back on Sunday.

It looks like I am going to be spending part of the first quarter on hold with DirectTV this sunday

Oh you can't trust customer service people Pliny.

These days, whenever I have to make a call where someone has to promise me something, I call them on skype and record the call.

I have already sent them a huge letter complaining about the apparent lack of communication on this issue. Hopefully, someone will call me back tomorrow that is beyond the 1st line customer service folks.

I am going to get my HD for the Sunday Ticket, and I will not pay for SuperFan. It's a matter of principle now

I had heard a lot of good things about DirectTV support. But, to this point I have not seen it.

I could also go off about the apparant "old model" HD DVR unit that I just purchased for $399, when a new unit is about to be released that supports local channels in HD. Apparently, they will not be upgrading those of us that just purchased the units.

So far, 2 very big strikes against DirectTV. Other than that, I am really happy with the quality of the broadcasts.

One thing. They offered sfan for free if you signed up before June 30 but I think that was for new customers. Doesn't help anyone now.

                      Here's my two cents.

I have the ticket and superfan. actually, this is my 2nd year of superfan and they only charged me half this season. this is my 6th year of the Ticket. you can only get the HD games with Superfan. the other features of superfan are hit and miss. the red zone channel is yeech. I don't watch it other than for fantasy purposes. the highlights are nice after the games are over. the game mix channel, I like. however, you need to have a interactive/DVR to get the full spectrum. if you don't, you can barely see the games and you have to keep switching the audio back and forth. however, with a DVR, you can click on a game and it expands right there to full screen. it is sweet, actually
