    The thing I see with Doug is that he embraces the whole team. He is down in the trench with them and not trying to be the guy in the FO running everything. He appears to know the second or third string guys, the ST guys, and treats them all as part of the whole. I think Wentz is the same way. He treats all the guys the same. He engages them. The same can be said about Peters, Jenkins, Mills, et al each in their own way they engage and treat each other as equals. At least that is my perception from afar. Those are the leadership traits that make successful leaders.

      Winning helps obviously but that locker room is tight. Doug has some street cred too I think.
      You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

        I have to admit to not likng the Douggie hiring 2 years ago. I thought Lurie was trying to catch lightning in a bottle twice and hoping to clone Andy. I figured a likable guy such as Pederson would be a temporary salve to sooth the pain caused by Chip. Give him a year or two to help heal the lockerroom while Howie repaired the roster damage and then go for the good coach who would take the rebuild to the next level. Well I was wrong. Dougie looks like he really can coach (4th & 8 not withstanding). He makes mid-game adjustments. He gets the team prepared. He keeps them focused. He hired a great supporting staff. He just seems to get it right now. A couple more BIG hurdles to go before we can say he is a legit coach;

        1. How he maintains the team focus when success goes to their heads.
        2. How he rebuilds the coaching staff when this crop gets offers elsewhere.
        3. How he deals with adversity and lossing seasons.

        So far Doug is showing that he can do the job and do it damned well. I am very happy to say I was wrong!

        We will eventually

          Juk you are right but getting to those places will be an accomplishment. They are also tough ones to handle. If they win the SB I hope he has it in him to handle it but I will still be pretty happy getting there.

              This is such a great post Juk. When we hired Peterson at first, all I could think of was Rich Kotite, especially after his first press conference. I thought Doug was just going to be a soft, yes man, who was going to try and be another Andy clone.

              Its been the Howie and Doug show this year. Doug brought in fantastic assistant coaches and Howie has been just crapping gold in his player moves. And, while Doug has been very calm and cool most of the time, he has shown fire in his belly when needed.

              Doug, you are not Rich Kotite. I apologize for thinking that.

                Doug actually had a post game speech without saying OK after every sentence. Progress!!

                  And in press conferences "you know" is his go to phrase.

                    remember this ?

                    We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.
