  • What's to become of Nick?

It's just so hard to repeat. You need an incredible work ethic, great talent, fight off the target on your back because you get everybody's A game, be injury free unless your roster is as deep as the Grand Canyon which is very hard to do with the salary cap, and then you need a ton of luck!!! There's no guarantee that Carson will be back as good as new next year and might never have that escapability that made him so special again. I think that Nick is actually a more accurate passer. There are so many variables here. I'm still soaking things in but of course this is going to be a tough one for us and especially for Nick.

This will be a tough off season for Howie & his crew. Personally I think Nick will have to come and ask to leave or someone with a boatload will have to come with an offer. Otherwise I think the birds keep him. The combined cap hit for him and Carson is very very low for an NFL team so they can easily keep them.
But there are others. Do you keep Peters? Sproles? Do you sign Bradham? Blount? And you still might have some coaching losses.
They have something like 21 of 22 starters signed but you have to keep changing every year in order to hold off stagnation.
I will always hold these guys special but I have always said I am an Eagles fan. Players come and go. I expect some change.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
    Hope is not a strategy
    RIP

They do have a lot of questions to answer. What do you do with Patrick Robinson? Bradham? OL depth? Keep Nick or trade him? Do you ask him what he wants to do? Do they owe him that?

I’d let Nick say what he wants to do. I’m betting he says come back. I think he just loves it here. As for signing players, yeah that’s a hard call. I’m saying no to Blount. Bradham is a big yes. Peters and Sproles I’m not sure about. Peters will get a lot of $$$ that I’m not sure I want tied up on a 37 year old who has had significant injuries. Sproles I’m more inclined to sign for a season. He won’t be overly expensive and if he’s close to his old self, well look out. I don’t know what free agents are out there. A few big names, but many times it’s not those who make the difference.

And the birds have Jones coming back next year so maybe Robinson is gone. Super bowl LIII pursuit begins with Howie & his crew next week.

Well, I can almost guarantee that Sproles won't be back. Clement will at least be the 3rd down guy or might just rotate with Ajayi. He can do it all as well as a darned good blocker. He's made some beautiful catches this year and has both power and speed. I doubt if we can pay Blount who played like a guy possessed Sunday (Holy crap did he run great!) Aggie will get tendered I imagine so that's a nice raise for him too. Howie went all in this year and it paid off. Next year will be pretty tricky and our depth will start to dwindle as we approach Carson's contract or Nick's for that matter. I shudder to lose Bradham. Maybe Corey Graham and Robinson play for vet minimums but I doubt it. Jeff could buy them some real estate to hide the dough. A couple of guys on the NFL hinted that that kind of stuff is done.

I wanted to wait a few days to start a thread on this, however, I think this team will change a pretty good amount in the offseason. I am writing it now and will post at some point.

This is what I think also.

I'm kinda hoping some veteran FAs want to come play on this team and take a discount for a chance to win a title.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

                      Seems odd to me also.
