  • So which pick is more valuable....

#32 or #33? Maybe it's 33 where you have all night to field offers from other teams?

I've debated this. There has to be a team or two that thinks they have someone in mind but they don't want to take the chance on letting him sit overnight. Someone else might come up with a way to get him so they may want to trade up to 32 so they can block anyone else. On the other hand contracts for first round guys are different that second round guys. I think there are people on both sides of that fence.
The one bad thing about trading back is the commish can't say 'with the 32d pick the WORLD CHAMPION PHILDELPHIA EAGLES select'. But he can say trade
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
    Hope is not a strategy
    RIP

I don't think that you can just throw blanket statements out there like that Dawk. It all depends how you grade the prospects. If you have a stud there at 32 you have to take him. If you have 15 players rated the same when 32 comes up then you can play around. It's not how many guys you draft, it's how many GOOD guys that you draft.

#32 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aay more valuable than the #33 only because #32 is still a 1st round pick so you get the 5th year. The #33 pick only has to stick around for 4 years.

I tend to agree but 33 is a hell of a nice spot to be in. The hype isn't there but there will be quite a few GMs up all night working the phones.

I agree. Qualitatively speaking, there may be little to no difference. However, the first round pick gives the team the option to keep the player cost-controlled for an extra year. There's value in that.
