  • Putin plays Donnie like a violin at another gala photo op.

Two hours alone in a room with ONLY the translators. Donnie with no structured agenda, little preparation by his own account, and a seemingly desperate need for the approval of a murdering strongman who heads a country with a GDP smaller than the state of Texas.

The world will have to rely on the honesty of these to world class liars for any account of what was said/agreed to. Putin lies thoughtfully and strategically and Trump simply lies as though he's in a perpetual lying contest where only quantity counts.

    What could possibly go wrong?

We've yet to hear from even the most ardent Trump loyalists in either the media or the political world anything approaching a cogent explanation for Trumps ceaseless sucking up to Putin. According to Donnie, the poor relationship with Russia is all our fault.

Is Trump simply an innocent/well-intentioned but very "useful idiot" or is there some darker explanation for his shameless grovelling.

No tino he is simply the fool that he is. After all, Putin strongly denies any Russian meddling and a man of his character wouldn't lie so our guys must be missing something. Fortunately he has offered the help of his people in finding out the real culprit.
What the rest of us are missing is that the real threat is the EU. Those EU bastards would love nothing more than see the US crumble.

      2 things:

Why do they insist on having people that are translating talk at the same time the guy is speaking? If the program is later why don't the interpreters just listen to the conversation and write down the stuff the guy says an have somebody without an accent read it to the viewers so that the whole conversation can be understood? It's infuriating.

Our CIA is just as bad as their KGB. Why does everybody in America not want to believe this fact? They were both lying to each other and they both know it. It was a nice show for the public though. Neither side wants to bomb each other so who gives a shit?

Absolutely 60, our CIA does the same spying as the KGB. I believe the VAST majority of the US agrees. Not sure why you would say people in the US don't think our CIA equates to the KGB.
However we need to remember the US spent years undermining the Soviet Union in an attempt to break it up and reduce their influence in the world. Anyone who doesn't believe Putin is doing the same thing in trying to undermine the US has their head in the sand. The threat between these two superpowers isn't bombing and taking over. It is through things like damaging their currency, damaging their influence in the world, inciting unrest within the country, maybe even damaging their elections.
It might have been a nice public show for Putin but it was not a nice public show for the US

I'm not so sure how many people realize that our government killed Patton and our CIA squashed any info on the Kennedy assassination ND (I'm not implying that you are). I have a retired CIA friend who simply answers "you don't want to know" anytime anybody asks him anything. Trump has implied that a few times and people just don't get it. People in this country are so naive.

            Popper,

You seem focused on what you regard as the failure of some/many people in our country to recognize that the CIA has engaged in reprehensible behavior, including killing people. No one who has paid any attention during the last 60 years should have any doubts that our CIA has some blood on it's hands, including the blood of innocents. That said, to suggest that there is an equivalence in the level, extent and frequency of brutal and extralegal actions between the two organizations, is IMO, self-serving nonsense.

But my original post in this thread had nothing to do with either the CIA or the KGB and their respective capacity for "dirty deeds". It addressed my belief that Putin was "playing" a very willing but poorly prepared Trump and raised questions I would think any American with a pulse would be asking...WTF is it with Trump's unrelenting adoration of Putin? And why does he go out of his way to insult our proven allies while avoiding any criticism of Russia in general and Putin in particular.

I wrote the post after his very private 1-on-1 meeting with Putin (for which we have no record) but before he went before the world and publicly licked Putin's boots.

You also seem very fond of the pejorative "TDS" label that you and another member of this board toss around pretty freely. I suppose that label would apply to me because I am deeply disturbed by the conduct of this pathological lying, childish attention whore, particularly as it effects us both domestically and internationally.

Popper, you and I share much in common and have a cordial and, I believe, caring relationship which I value. You may find what I've posted here a bit strong and even offensive but I'm OK with that because each time I see you use the dismissive TDS reference so easily I'm offended. I've regarded Donald Trump as a totally self-absorbed, emotionally stunted, con man for 30 years... long before there was any thought of his running for president. I don't hide or deny my passionate dislike and distrust of him.

Here's the rub Dicky, I totally agree with EVERY WORD that you just wrote. I really think at this point in my life that I don't give a shit what these guys are like because they are all full of shit. I do disagree on Trump a little because while he is a complete asshole he does have the ability to charm people too and that is a big part of his game. His ego is so large that I think he really does want to make a difference so that he can say "I did it and nobody else could". I don't care what he says or does as long as the country prospers and people get jobs. That's it period. I do get a kick out of the TDS thing though because I've heard the expression and witness it constantly around here (Mass). It really is a diagnosed "phenomena" and I find that fascinating. And for the record as we've discussed before I used to change the station as soon as he came on because I couldn't stand listening to the SOB.

Now as far as the CIA is concerned I think that there might be 50 people total in this state that are aware that our CIA has actually ever killed ANYBODY and I'm not exaggerating. I might also add that we bomb the shit out of any country that might cut off our oil supply but that's a whole other thread. The image that the USA always wears the white hats is a joke. I might go along with eggshell but more like beige. Above all I'm mostly very sorry that I offended you because that certainly was not my intention.

                Popper,

As I replied to your PM very early this morning, I had typed out a long, detailed response to the above post which I, of course, then lost completely by touching the wrong spot on the touch pad on my damn lap top. Shit like that happens when you're old and stupid as I am, especially at 1 AM. (I hate trying to have "conversations", even those that are totally amicable, on the internet. Much prefer face-to-face discussions enabled by plenty of 'suds". )

You and I agree on a lot of other important things so it's OK if we don't see eye-to-eye regarding The Toddler in the White House. There are extremists in both camps when it comes to Trump and then there are the millions of reasonable people on both sides who either adore or despise him. One of the few things he's actually really good at is strongly attracting some while strongly repelling others simultaneously.

IMO, it's a bit lazy and unnecessarily provocative to group and then dismiss the millions of Trump haters as "deranged" just as it is to group and dismiss Trump lovers as "deplorable" and morons. As Gail would tell you, my chronic inclination toward name calling/labeling has gotten me in some sticky situations over the years so I try really hard not to do it on line...unless my goal is to piss someone off.

And with respect to the "TDS" label itself, are you suggesting it is actually a recognized psychiatric diagnosis? Maybe you can point me to a reputable source because I can't find any legitimate references to the "condition" other than maybe from Drs Hannity, and Carlson, both of whom got their PhD'S from Brett Favre College of Magnet Therapy and Penis Photography.

In any case, I know that you had no intention to offend anyone on the board by using the term. "No Harm, No Foul".

Oh, and Fuck Dallas...and Stupid Ben McAdoo!

When I first heard the term TDS about a year ago I didn't know what it was so I googled it and admittedly lmao when I read it. There was the definition and then a quote that said that some people actually do suffer from the symptoms. After I read your PM last night I again googled it and there were pages of definitions for it lol. There are people up here who do go into a fit at the mention of his name though so I would suppose it's real in some cases. He and Hillary are certainly lightning rods but he's got her beat by a mile in that regard. I never heard anybody say that they would move out of the country if she got elected anyway. As for the term DTS there has to be some official medical term associated with the mass hysteria that's been going on since his election. There's a name for every other thing in the world these days. I can't even remember the letters of the gay thing that they keep on adding to.

BTW, I've had that disappearing act happen to me quite a bit too on my laptops over the years. I don't even know what I hit to do it. I think that it's some way that you touch your mousepad. They should shoot the bastard who came up with that sick feature though!
