  • observations from Pre Season Game 3 Browns

I typically don't get too high and too low on preseason games but man was I disappointed in the game last night. Its not so much we lost or didn't score points or the fact we had to listen the announcers telling us how great a team that didn't win a game last year was.

    1. Foles looked worse than a High School QB who just lost his girlfriend. Terrible performance and I get he is not a preseason QB but man that was putrid.

    2. Why did Howie ever bring in Matt Jones, guys who fumble tend to fumble.

    3. The defense looks championship caliber. They really didn't give up anything last night. Even the 3 points they are credited with that drive was a -1 drive and the kid on the other side hit a 54 yard field goal.

    4. I don't know what to think of Big V right now. I know one thing a championship caliber team can't afford to have a backup left tackle who has mental blocks. I would be looking for Vet help at tackle.

    5. I am concerned about Wide Reciever. Mike Wallace is not a number 2 let alone a number 1. I am not sure that Jeffrey will be ready for game 1. We don't know what is wrong with Agholor. If they have to start the season with Carter starting we have big time issues. Maybe Howie has Jeremy Maclin or Dez Bryant on speed dial.

    6. I am not as concerned about RB, Ajayi is being held out for precaution as is Sproles. Clement seems like he will be fine. If it was me I would keep Adams as the fourth back, he is going to be deactivated most games and he has a much bigger upside than any of the other backs.

Right now I think Howie is probably working the phones looking for depth at OL, WR and Tight End. Richard Rodgers seems like he is going to start the year on IR. A blocking tight end is needed. I also think a 3/4 offensive tackle type could be in the offing. Hart just isn't good enough, Big V has a mental block and Maleata should be on the practice squad.
Were from Philly F in Philly no one likes us we DON'T CARE!

    1. OMG that was awful. Two sack fumbles and 4 total turnovers in 2 weeks (part time).

    2. Agree. He needs to be off the team today.

    3. While I agree somewhat, Brady tore them up last week.

    4. No clue what is up with V. Peters had better be healthy this year.

    5. I was giddy about the WR's before the preseason started. Now with all the injuries and underperforming players it is a concern.

    6. No concerns at all with the RB's.

    Other comments:

    * Call me concerned about Elliot somewhat. He is either clutch or lucky, because he has missed so many short kicks and made the really important ones when it has mattered. That inconsistency could catch up with him this season.

    * Are we seeing the importance of Frank Reich and DeFillippo ?

    * I am starting to wish that we had an extra week until the regular season started. We need Wentz, Jeffrey & Ags back that first week.

Exhibition games only offer ..IF'S.. So much is mental, and I am sure each player, for good or bad, handles fake phoney exhibition games differently.

Learned many years ago that this whole process is bad for fans. Coaches learn stuff from ALL the practice time, not sure about the fake phoney exhibitions.

the offense has been so brutal and we've gone for 2 alot, that Elliott has only had one FG attempt this PS. With a new holder

it's a concern, but maybe expected on the road in this PS?

I think the level of concern may be a bit overblown. This is a Super Bowl team playing in the preseason. Try not to forget that when you make your evaluations.

That said, I think Big V will be fine if they need him.
Matt Jones is a fumbler. Shame too, because he has a lot of talent, but you can't fumble like he does and expect anyone to trust you. Thankfully, the Eagles don't need him
I'm not worried at all about Mike Wallace. He's going to be more productive than Torry Smith was last year. Book it.
Pliny, are you really saying that preseason game planning is indicative of a problem because of Reich and Flip leaving? Seriously. It's freaking preseason.

This team needs to get their guys healthy. That's a downside of playing in Feb. Outside of that, get back to me when the games count as far as evaluations are concerned.

I've been watching Hard Knocks so I'm interested to see how the Browns react to winning this game.

I agree with all the points made about this team but specifically Foles. I get it, its pre-season but good god man- these turnovers are just out and out shitty.

I still think we're really going to miss Donnie Jones.

Thank god none of these RB's are going to be on the team because they all suck.

I wanted to see more from Goeddart especially since i took him with the last pick in one of my fanatasy drafts- i'm hoping he'll be a sleeper.

Now this is a legitimate concern. Jones was solid, and generally did a very good job. The kind of job that, if not done properly, can bite a team on the ass.

Goedert will do well I think but I'm not sure he will be a good fantasy guy. Ertz will surely be number one target and Doug spreads it around. Clement, Ajayi, Sproles plus the WRs with Ertz will take up the points I think
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy

I just got to see the game again after watching it Thursday on my cell phone. Man did the cell phone suck but it's better than nothing (but not much).

I thought that Seumalo play real well and Pryor repeated a nice performance too. Hart was very shaky. Actually I thought the whole line played very well considering that everything was plane man to man. No traps, whams or pulls-just straight ahead blocking. Cleveland didn't twist at all though so that made things a little easier for the line. I guess that I left off V having trouble though. The guy across from him is a damn fine player though. Hopefully he won't have to play much.

                  Thank goodness Kelce is OK!!

Please take Adams over Smallwood. Please! He made some yards but had great holes to run through and didn't make an inch more than he was given.

The offense is much better than they looked. First of all the fool Jones will be gone and never should have been in camp anyway (What were you thinking Howie????).

Veao looked pretty good at tackle and Ngata still gets a nice push up the middle. Forget ANY type of pursuit though. He looked like a traffic cop when a back ran by him on one play lol.

Cleveland very well could win a game this year.

Nick, by now you should have a clue on ball security!! Thanks for that SB game though!!!

Cleveland will win some games this year. They have had some high picks--although they have been known to whiff on some high picks. I think they will be a 500 team this year.

Cleveland has a really good D and should keep them in alot of low scoring games. The question IMO is the O. Does Mayfield or Taylor play well enough to win 6-8 games? Guess we'll find out soon enough.
