  • Mystery Man Doug

Challenges a catch that the guy caught in the middle of the field because he thought that he was out of bounds. Goes for 2 for no apparent reason but makes it to get us within 2 field goals and then doesn't kick one when he's got the chance. Who knows what's flying around in that mind of his?

Tough game for Doug. Not sure what happened on the challenge. Going for 2 was fine in my book. Not kicking the field goal from the 40 I probably would have because the defense really sucks right now. But Doug was hoping for a 3 and out and get the ball back. Not his defense allowing a 7 minute drive and points.

Not sure who his "challenge guy" is but I would have a new one tomorrow. Absolutely terrible. Half the country knew it was a catch before seeing any replays.
I have no problem going for two because, if you miss, you still have the opportunity to go again and have the same result. If you make it you can tie with FGs or win with and extra point. Not sure I go for two but I understand his reasoning.
I also understand not trying a 58 yard FG. Elliott was money last year but not so much this year. I need to see him make a couple 55 yarders before putting him out the with the game where it was. If he misses the Vikes have excellent field position. As it was if the D stepped up at all and held them in a crucial time of the game the birds would have had the ball back with lots of time.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
      Hope is not a strategy

I was fine with going for 2 and not attempting a 58 yard field goal, especially given Elliott's poor poor performance on long attempts this season. The 'challenge' though was simply inexplicable.

THIS.... down by 6, good field position and then let them run like 6 minutes off and score 3 more. I actually had a thought they could win that game 24-23 when he pinned them deep with plenty of time left. Stupid me.

I think that he was 50/50 to make that kick and when you are in desperation time you do desperate things. If they didn't play like shit in the first half and if Ahayi didn't fumble we wouldn't be talking about it. If he missed oh well and have your defense hold them. If he made it we were in good shape. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Why everybody is so uncomfortable with him is beyond me. He's a fine kicker.

Cept he missed the last several from over 50.

Plus you give up field position with like 9 minutes left. Nope that was a good call.

I also question the sweep to the slowest rb on 3rd and inches.

Last years team would have, this years team I have no faith in our defense to hold anything.

Let's face it we have a defense built on pressuring the QB and getting sacks. If we don't get pressure or sacks then we can't stop anyone. Now let's think about the present day NFL not last seasons this season, having a defense that is built on pressure and sacks is only going to lead to more horrible Roughing the passer calls. We need to change the way we play defense every team in the league does. Emphasis should be on coverage ability. Right now we don't have the players who can cover in this league. Not a lot of teams do but the ones who do are the ones who are going to win games.

That was a bad call- unless they thought they saw something that would specifically make that play work.

Just me but how do you make that call when you have a 6-5, 235 lb QB. I don't want his knee taken out anymore than anyone else but that was a QB sneak situation if there ever was one.
