but I don't want to see Schwartz walk. IMO he has done a pretty good job with average players. Put some aces in his deck and just maybe he does real well. Hell, put some CBs on his team and he would do better. He has had a bunch of average interchangeable parts. Give him 2 quality CBs and just maybe this D reaches new heights

Nah I am with you mm. He is frustrating as hell but I don't know who will replace him. I don't think I walk from someone without a replacement plan. But he needs some new talent to work with
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
    Hope is not a strategy
    RIP

There's no one on the current staff that one would consider a candidate to step into his shoes. I'd retain him, get him more talent, and see what happens after that

I also want Schwartz back. He and Doug seem to get along just fine. Schwartz is not going to get a HC offer. And, he has unparalleled control here for a DC. It's the next best thing to being a HC somewhere.

I do find it a little curious that the Eagles have not extended him though.

I agree. Schwartz is not going anywhere. And I don't want him to. When we got healthy this was a top third NFL defense and the best run defense in the league... and next year with a healthier Barnett, Malik Jackson, and another year for Sweat and Hall to develop I think it gets even better.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Tend to agree he hasn't had the full deck to play with, and while I do hate some of his soft plays, and the D's willingness to give up a lot of 3rd and longs--- he has a good pedigree and some very bad luck both talent wise and injury-wise.

I've got your back Bud. There's no way in hell that I want him to go but he's just what Cleveland needs IMO. A guy to tighten up the ship.

I agree, this has been frustrating but the lack of healthy talented CBs is difficult to overcome.

Now, if they have good healthy CBs and the defense still looks like it did this year, then he should be shown the door.

It all depends on what they replace him with. they certainingly can hire somebody who was worse than Schwartz, but I don't think they will. He is frustrating, he is stubborn. Quickly think about who has got better since he was brought here? The best players on Defense, Jenkins, Cox, Graham all were here when he got here. He has had high draft picks like Jones and Barnett, that have not developed.

Based on the press conference today I would say Schwartz will not be back next year along with most of the defensive coaches.

Sorry guys but they have invested a lot of draft capital in the secondary and these guys still get routinely beat. They a few plays but not many. Is it Schwartz? His scheme or Undlin? I don't know but something has to change.

Mills is like my dog though, no matter how many times I ball fake her she still bites. That ain't coaching, it's a dog being a dog. Jones I just don't know about. He seemed to get a spark after getting another chance. If that guy shows up this year, great. But he played timid early this year. Douglas has heart and guts, but he falls 50 yards behind someone every game. LaBlanc is someone I've liked since he stepped on the field. He seems to be involved in good plays. Maddox , I love the kid at the slot. Get him there full time and we have a keeper. Injuries keep putting him outside and he's just not as good there. We need a top shelf CB,via trade, draft, WAWA or wherever. Then the rest of the guys are more than respectable if we stay injury free for once.

Are we really going to get someone better?

*In his 4 years as Eagles DC in regular season/playoffs:

16.1 points/game at home- FEWEST in NFL

                        20.4 points/game -
                        5th fewest in NFL

                        *Jim Schwartz, third down rankings:

                        2019: 5
                        2018: 8
                        2017: 3

Pretty good read on him by TLawler http://igglesblitz.com/

Posted a thread the other day about what people think based on what they see v what is fact. His numbers don't lie although when I watch the D just don't seem to get off the field on third down. Very frustrating but they do rank high

One of the reasons for his downfall in Detroit was that his teams were completely undisciplined. I think he's one of those guys that is a solid coordinator, but cannot make it as a HC.

Yeah, he really couldn't keep Suh under control and he had a huge following in the locker room. Tough situation for anybody. Their are a few guys like that in the league and good teams shy away from that type of guy. Cleveland has a few but nobody that nuts. I think Cleveland's coach coach was a loosey goosey personality and didn't have control of anybody.
