  • Alshon is not going anywhere

    Howie's presser:

“In terms of Alshon [Jeffery], we had a conversation with Alshon before the season and he took a pay cut in exchange for guaranteeing [his 2020 salary]. For us, we were trying to create as much flexibility going forward with our roster, to create cap space to improve the football team.

I think we forget some of the contributions to our team that Alshon has had. During our Super Bowl year, the injury he played with, not missing a game and the contributions in that Super Bowl game. Last year he had 11 catches during the playoffs. Even, you look at this year, in his last game he had, I think, 8 catches for over 130 yards in the Miami game.

So, Alshon is a talented player, and he loves being an Eagle, he loves this city. I think about the moment last year after the New Orleans game when he went into that school and put himself out there.”

First, I think it will be a big decision for them. He is going to cost a buck. Second, Howie can say that today and tomorrow say he moved on from Alshon because it was in the best interest of the team, because the offer was too good because the water was warm, because the water was cold. Doesn't matter what he says today. I still think it is 50-50. But for me it would be an easy decision
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
    Hope is not a strategy
    RIP

I wouldn't put much stock on what was said today as far as players go. They are still going through evaluations

Cap hit is really big. I think he is here one more year.

Sorry but I want him back... not sure he has lost anything other than injury related. He and Jackson(or another really fast guy) a real nice 1 to 2 punch

You need playmakers to win in the NFL and with Ertz,Goedert, Jackson, Howard, Sanders, Scott we are going to have a lot of guys getting 1 on 1, if Wentz finds them, we could be looking at a team that gashes people. Alshon has the ability to play tall, you need that these days, The need and the cap hit make him an Eagle next season.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Hey I don't care if he doesn't come back until mid-year 2020 as long as he is completely healthy. I don't think the guy has really ever been healthy here honestly.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Yes, you're right AW. He's one tough guy though. He played all year long with a separated shoulder and never said a word about it in '17. He certainly should come back 100% next season. They should put him in a plastic bubble until September.

Alshon will be back, the only way he is not is if they really know he made the Wentz comments and deem him a cancer in the locker room. Then they will find a way to get rid of him. Simply put a cap hit will not be allowed to effect the locker room.

Taz.... you are right. If he was the guy that made those comments and that is what he actually said then I could see them letting him go.

That said I think it is highly likely he said some things off the record and they were taken out of context and blown up.

Let's face it... every WR virtually comes off like a diva. Larry Fitzgerald has said some unfriendly things as I recall. Julio Jones is the only one that really has kept his mouth shut and honestly if I were Julio I'd be vocal because that franchise has wasted a Hall of Fame career.

AJ may have said something but I don't view it as some lingering issue. Get him healthy and next year he becomes the solid third down/red zone target.

After seeing that reporter who wrote the piece say those things talk about Wentz after his concussion I am beginning to think he source was that sorry ass Scandrick!
