Schwartz likes a 4 man pass rush, well he now has 3 grown ass men up front who are quick enough to pull off stunts, strong enough to not only take on double teams, but defeat double teams and they require double teams. This is going to be fun to watch . Cox and Jackson could also move outside and Hargrave and whoever jump in at T on short yardage. Now we need to address the back 7, though talent up front helps to hide the warts.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

I agree 100% on this. The way the NFL is played now you have to get to the QB quickly and the fastest way is the C/G and G/T gaps. How many times last year when Jernigan was in the game alongside Fletch did we see one of them just immediately beat the man in front of them and either get a sack or flush the QB.

Granted, you have to stay in your rush lanes on the edge because we all know what guys like Wilson, Rodgers, and even Dak can do when they break contain but this sort of pressure by your front 4 is the way to best defend against the pass in the NFL.

It causes the offense to either leave a TE in to block or leave a back in to help especially when you show a blitzer behind the front 4.

I am OK with not getting Byron Jones. I'd be OK if we just rolled with resigning Mills, McLeod and maybe adding Chris Harris at this point for maybe. That gives you money to keep Malcolm happy.

I get it... the defense is going to need linebackers but run stuffers or guys that can run? I think guys that can run because does anyone think that the Birds aren't going to continue to dominate against the run with this defensive front.

Agree. Stop the run. Get ahead with a more efficient offense. Unleash the pass rush when opponent has to throw to catch up.

      B. Jones not worth the money. Trying Truant for 2-3 years makes sense, along with a trade of some sort. Get your stud WR in the draft. As someone pointed out, Dullass, Az and Bills no longer need a WR in the first, and they all draft ahead of us, so perhaps one of the Big 3 drops or we don’t have to move up that much to snag one.

I need to see what they are going to do at CB and LB first. Too many times last year I saw a quick three step drop, ball out, caught missed tackle and away they go. In other words having a great defensive line isn't the entire equation. That said there are plenty of pretty good corners out there like Logan Ryan and even Darrius Slay by trade. Get one of those, add another in the first round and a LB or two in the draft and I think the defense could be top 5.

I would not be surprised at all to see us go DB with the first 2 picks. I don't know that the Birds thought the "top" CBs in FA were worth the price tag. Not sure I would disagree , even though I would have liked to know they tried. I haven't watched much football other than the Birds. Is Eli Apple, Tray Waynes or Trufant worth a shot ?

Taz... I agree that the 3 step drops are going to be a problem but if you noticed when we were healthy at the DL and with our top CBs and Safeties we were able to play more press coverage and limit success there as well.

We aren't done. I think they are going to get Jenkins wrapped up and I also think they are going to draft DB and LB in the first 2 days along with WR and I think they will go OL/RB early.
