  • Roethlisberger takes over...

after Maddox got injured. He looked pretty good, the one INT was on his second pass, so I won't worry about that too much. The other came on what looked to be miscommunication between him and Burress (who is terrible again this year, he dropped a pass on the previous play). Of course, he was playing against a pretty weak defensive effort from the Ravens, but I'm excited to have him in there. He looks like a playmaker type player, just doing anything to get a play to work. The offense looked excited to play when he got in there, with Maddox it was just flat.

What's the story with Maddox's injury?

I dunno...looked pretty nasty though, his elbow bent in a really bad way. He came out in a t-shirt and jeans with his arm in a sling a little later.

Maddox is reportedly out for at least next week.

I'm not sure how to feel about this...I feel better with Maddox back there, but Roethlisberger seems like he's ready...I'd be happier if Charlie Batch was there to step in...

What happens if Roethlisberger lights it up next week? Do you put him back on the bench when Maddox heals?

I wouldn't, I would keep Maddox on the bench. Maddox had his one good year, but Roethlisberger is the future for the Steelers and if he can handle it, why not help him gel with the rest of the team right now.

We're going to see a lot of the Bill Cower scowl this year. (You do every year, I guess)

Since the rookie is being thrown into the fire anyway due to injury, might as well keep him on there. Unless he's so bad that he's liable to suffer a Tim Couch breakdown.

Ya, it's probably best to keep him in unless he does really bad (it's not like Maddox is anything special)...that's why I'd feel better if Batch was still in there, to step in just in case.

Also, Cowher has a perpetual scowl...even when he's winning, he's over there scowling away.

                    Edit:

Maddox is out at least six weeks, so it looks like we don't have to worry about this. The optimist in me says the Roethlisberger's sliding ways will keep him safe from a likely over-zealous Miami rush. Either that, or he'll just get murdered.

Nobody is ever better off with Charlie Beyatch.

Well, now the backup QB is Brian St. Pierre...I think that speaks for itself...
