  • Injuries

I think this is a very deep team talent wise but experience wise it is not very deep at all. Injuries are starting to come into play more and more now. We can't continue to lose players every week and continue to win games.

    1. Donte Stallworth - we need his deep speed on the field. I believe this will open up the underneath stuff to Westbrook. We can't continue to run Baskett and Avant out there they are just not ready YET to be productive recievers in the pro's

    2. Shawn Barber/Matt McCoy- say what you will about McCoy but the kid was playing real well until he got hurt last week, he got nicked again yesterday. Shawn Barber has been very good for us and he also gets hurt yesterday. We are then down to a rookie in Gaither who I think is going to be very good but I cant' help but think that if Barber or McCoy are in there we don't get the 12 man on the field penalty and probably go on to win the game

    3. Rod Hood - His injury has to be worse than they are letting on. I think some of the safety problems we are having are due to Hood not playing. They are trying to give extra help in the defensive backfield to make up for Hanson's youth. Either way we miss Hood's coverage skills

    4. Jevon Kearse - From an all around standpoint they miss Kearse. People forget how good he was at following the back end of run plays and of course he is was very good in the pass game. Cole and Howard have done well as has Juqua Thomas. McDougle is only seeing maybe two series a game. We still miss Kearse

    5. Heremanns/Andrews - Scott Young STINKS, I would cut him and find a veteran backup. Every drive that Young has been in on this year has stalled. Coincidence I think not

Overall every team has injuries, the teams that overcome them are the teams that will win in this league. The Eagles though talented are not equiped to overcome them yet. By this time next year they will be. Youth is being served but being served to a point were its going to cost us this year
Were from Philly F in Philly no one likes us we DON'T CARE!

Any info on the injury to Barber? The guy has been playing really well for us, I hope it's nothing serious.

Reid didn't elaborate too much on the injuries today. Barber has a neck sprain, he didn't even mention McCoy. I know he said Howard had a injury although it sounded minor. mentioned Herremans came back into the game. that's about it

It's also quite obvious that Westy is nowhere near 100%.

Guess i'm dense, but it isn't that obvious to me.

He ran for a 4.5 yards per touch yesterday. Pretty good I think.

That's probably about half of what he was geting leading up to this game, but.....

I think Westy looked just fine. THey played him well and his touches were limited.

Fresh, I think you misread, I said he "ran" at a 4.5 clip.(probably my bad for using the word touch at the same time saying 'ran').. which is about where his career average is. And my observation was that he ran more between the tackles yesterday also, so I was very happy with his 4.5 per running touch.

And in the passing game, there was nothing, I heard today that they had a LB, Scott F, shadowing him all day,,,, that's why I was a little surprised that we didn't dink and dunk a bit more, and use Westy as a decoy.

But the bottom line is that I personally thought he looked pretty close to 100%.

I don't see how Westbrook was less than 100%. I thought he looked explosive when he had open field.

Unfortunately - the Saints played a "spy" on Westbrook all game and Steak Fujita mirrored his every move.

                    here we go:

Injuries: Joining injured receiver Donte Stallworth (hamstring strain) and cornerback Rod Hood (heel strain) are linebacker Shawn Barber (neck strain), receiver Reggie Brown (quad strain), defensive end Darren Howard (groin strain) and guard Todd Herremans (knee).

All the players are said to be day-to-day.

I thought Westy didn't run as fast as he usually does, especially on the turf.

I didn't really notice that, but you MIGHT be right. I'd argue that I'm not sure how you could tell. The Saints were clearly focusing on him anytime he moved into the flat to open space. They obviously had a goal of NOT letting Westbrook burn them on screens. It's when he's out in open space that Westbrook "looks" fast, and he never had that opportunity yesterday. The rest of the time he was just running into the pile in front of him, and in those cases I thought he looks as good as he normally does. As others pointed out 4.5 ypc isn't too shabby.
