  • McNabb vs. Cunningham

With the TD pass to Westbrook, McNabb tied Cunningham for 2nd all time Eagles TD passes at 150. Only Jaworski had more at 175. This made me check the Eagles Media guide to compare the two's overall stats as Eagles (in otherwords, I didn't count time Cunningham spent with Minny, Dallas, or anyone else).

    Passes completed:
    Cunningham 1,874
    McNabb 1,862

    Passes attempted:
    Cunningham 3, 362
    McNabb 3,186

    Most TD's
    Cunningham 150
    McNabb 150

    Interceptions
    Cunningham 105
    McNabb 71

    Yards Rushing
    Cunningham 4,482
    McNabb 2,677

Just some interesting stats. but it is clear that when his career is done, McNabb will be the best QB in Philadelphia Eagles history. In two years, he will probably passed Jaworski for all Philly records as a QB, except most interceptions. Just something to ponder when he has a bad day as he has a lot more good ones than bad.

He could potentially make a push to pass Jaws this year.

There's no question that McNabb is the best QB we've ever had.

What's suprising is that Jaw is up there. I mean... if i remember correctly, he kinda sucked.

nope, not true. Jaws was a very fine QB. had very poor protection from the likes of Leonard Marshall and Lawrence Taylor at the end of his career. But you can't blame him for Tom Jelesky.
Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd kill you and everyone you cared about!

          I agree LT....

Jaws was a very efficient runner of the offense, made mostly good reads and was a good passer with good pocket presence. He is smart which is why he makes a very good analyst IMO. Jaws did not have the athletic ability or mobility/elusiveness of Randall.

Randall was an amazing athlete, gun for an arm, run like a gazelle, good pocket presence and mobility/elusiveness...Randall did not run the offense efficiently and did not always make the right reads IMO.

McNabb is a combo of both IMO...he is an efficient runner of the offense, has a good arm and also a great athlete who can make plays on his own...he has become quite effective in the pocket and generally makes the right reads.

He will be the best in the end, but do not forget about good ole Van Brocklin...he does not have the numbers and I am too young to have watched him play, but that 1960 year was special...

it's funny how the times have changed. 53.3 used to be kind of good

In the old days, the passes were more frequently down the field. Not as much dump offs to running backs. Average yards per pass were typically higher

I think Jaws was the NFC Offensive Player of the Year in 1980.

                    Passing yards as an Eagle
                    ------------------------------
                    Jaws 26963 10 seasons
                    Cunningham 22877 11 seasons
                    McNabb 19433 7 seasons

So if McNabb throws for 3500 yards this year (which is possible if this vertical passing game keeps up, cuz he did that in 2004), he'll pass Cunningham in only his eighth season.

By the way, in their careers:
                    ---------------------------------
                    Cunningham 29979 16 seasons
                    Jaws 28190 15 seasons
McNabb (we'll see, but he's well on his way)

                    Perspective check:
                    ----------------------
                    Marino 61343 17 seasons
                    Elway 51475 16 seasons
                    Manning 33189 8 seasons
"Philly fans are great....It's the only place where you pull up on the bus and you've got the grandfather, the grandmother, the kids and the grandkids - everybody flicking you off. At other stadiums, they give you the thumbs-down. Here, they give you the middle finger.”
                    — Michael Strahan

"No one likes us, no one likes us, no one likes us, we don’t care, we’re from Philly, F—-ing Philly, No one likes us, we don’t care!”

And to just keep beating a dead horse because it has been the talk this week, Randall would not have thrown that pass to LJ. Hw would either tried to run it in or threw it out of the end zone
