Fragility or not. I've seen enough to keep him. I know, I know, at the right price and all, but I'm comfortable with he and Reggie spinning the 1s and 2s. Assuming they can keep focus when McNabb returns.

I agree. He stretches the field and is always a big play threat with his speed. I know he is an injury risk but when healthy, I'm impressed. He wants to be here also.

Absolutely. I have become a big fan. He'll probably walk without a substantial offer being made, but we should definitely try to keep him here. You need PLAYMAKERS at WR. At least one. Now, I think Brown can become a solid guy. Hell, a damned good guy, if he decides he doesn't want to lead the league in drops. But you need that consistent deep threat that is dangerous anywhere on the field. That's Donte. He may not get credit for this, but from what I have seen Stallworth is one hell of a route runner. I have seen him on numerous occasions make DBs look absolutley LOST. We're not gonna be able to take advantage of all he an offer with Garcia this season, but with a healthy McNabb back and another year in the system for Donte, I think he will explode.

        Stallworth is definitely worth extending.
The guy is a playmaker. I want to see him
back next year. In comparison, our potential
playmaking TE LJ Smith seems to be regressing
as the season winds down. LJ had no catches
last night after starting the game off with a drop.

I'm on the fence. The dude's real good when he's on the field, but he's not on the field all that often. That's been the knock on him prior to this season and he's done nothing to change my mind on that front.

It sounds like a reasonable thing to want and based on last nights spectacular 1 handed catch I'm with ya but they do need to look at all the options out there. I think they need to settle into a number 1 and 2 that stays put for a few years who ever it is. I'm thinking he's a pretty good locker room guy as well based on his demeanor.

LJ was injured....corneal abrasion according to Reid last night...

LJ IMO has gotten less chances and regressed a bit because of another injury to McNabb...he and McNabb do well together, McMahon and so far Garcia did not/have not clicked with him as well...

I expect that Donte's health issues are going to factor into any negotiations with the Eagles.

If Donte would have been healthy this season, then I would assume that the Eagles would have already extended him with a nice offer. There is no question that the guy is a #1 receiver when he is on the field.

When Donte gets to free agency, someone will probably overpay. I hope he likes Philly enough to come back though.

Donte just faked that Carolina DB out of his drawers last night on the TD throw. That was sooooooo sweet.

Correct me if I'm wrong cap experts, but I thought the date had passed where they could extend contracts. I believe they will have to wait until the season is over, correct?

No, that was the date at which the contract could count as part of this year's cap. You still sign a contract anytime. I wouldn't be shocked if it happened, unless his agent is telling him to hit the free market. I have a feeling the deal he gets is going to be a big one, possibly as high as Reggie Wayne territory. He's not worth that, but he's worth paying for. I love his skillset in this offense with Reggie on the other side. They can be a top 10 tandem next year.

Ah, yeah, that's right. Ya know, having this board has made me lazy in remembering the details of the cap rules. I never have to remember specifics because I can always ask you guys.

Actually - let me try to throw a wrinkle into the cap discussion. I BELIEVE the deadline that passed is the ability to raise a player's 2006 SALARY. They could extend Stallworth still. The salary portion of any extension would kick in for '07 but the Eagles could still use 2006 as a year to prorate his signing bonus.

Also - watching the highlights on demand from NFL network - LJ was playing in the 3rd quarter.

At the begining of the year I would have said yes but not now. The guy is a hamstring injury waiting to happen. No thanks.

He's the only receiver that we have that I would have even considered extending. As Fresh said, he is a difference maker. I suppose Brown could develope into a consistant receiver, but I sure haven't seen it yet.

Blitz, we have seen a rash of WR hammy injuries this season. Not sure what's going on there. But I have to believe that our trainers can work him thru that as they become familiar with him and get him on a program.
