  • HUGE WIN: Felt like Old Times Again (Thoughts)

For the first time since the DALLAS game I was nervous, sweating and excited for a football game. I feel ALIVE again. Now I realize why i was a fan in the first place.

Some of my thoughts from a wonderful win:

    - How great does it feel to knock NYG on their tails and send them reeling into a tough game vs. NO? Man - ahhhh - I can breathe easy today.

    - Brian Westbrook is sensational. Despite his early season knee injuries this dude is going to have 2,000+ total yards. Are you kidding me? What a marvelous player.

    - Trent Cole, despite no sacks for awhile, played amazing. His run defense yesterday was awesome. The play near the goal line when he stopped Tiki on a pitch one on one was awesome. I'd like to see him more rested with the FREAK next year and Howard but he's awesome.

    - Reggie Brown and LJ Smith - HELD ONTO THE FOOTBALL!!!! I get this eerie feeling - and we've kind of heard rumblings - but that the receivers know they can't make mistakes without McNabb to pick up the slack and the concentration levels have jumped exponentially. What a game altering catch by LJ on the bobble catch and Reggie on the fade. Man. Great football.

    - BUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That, my friends, was 2003 Correll Buckhalter. Just marvelous running and feel for the game yesterday as a complement to Westbrook. The question is: WHY DON'T WE DO THIS WHEN MCNABB PLAYS?

    - Troy Aikman made many erroneous statement yesterday but one that he hit right on the head that really stuck with me was that Darwin Walker is a critical piece for us. If he comes to play hard we are a different front on defense. If he doesn't come to play (Which is quite often) it hurts us badly.

    - Brian Dawkins is a legend and a hall of famer and if we didn't think that way after some rough weeks this year - shame on us.

    - Shawn Andrews and Jamaal Jackson are absurd.

    - Jeff Garcia commands more respect and enthusiasm than Donovan McNabb and that excites and scares me.

    - Eli Manning is a joke and really can be considered a bust considering his draft status. Outside of that last drive he threw for lke 230 and the majority of those were stupid fades to Plaxico.

    - The officials, I am not a conspiracy guy, absolutely 100% wanted the GIANTS to win yesterday. The calls were just awful all over the place. The game was intense but the defensive holding and PI calls were just pathetic. Where's the call on Burress for all the push off he had?

    - Who are the GIANTS other WR's?

    - Mikell's hit on Shockey was one that will stick in my memory bank for a long time. I loved it.

    - Akers/Johnson/Long Snapper all suck this year. Sorry but they can't freaking kick FG's anymore. It's really bad.

    - Reno? Thanks but I still think you're not an NFL returner. But thanks. That was a big play.

    - Can we do the improbable? Wow...

For all the kid gloves treatment that the refs give other QB's, how do they not call roughing on the Garcia hit (before the taunting penalty)?

If Reno was't so slow, he should have taken that return to the house!

The old "bend don't break" defense got me excited yesterday. The Jints had two 1st and goals that they only got 6 points out of. Shutting teams down in the red zone is what this D used to be about. Great to see it happening right now.

Amen. Those two stands inside the 10 were incredible. Our ability to cash in on our trips down there was the difference.

Although on pins and needles, I kept saying to myself that WE continued to get TDs while they got FGs. We won a game way back at the Meadowlands when the Giants got inside the 10 three times and came away with 9 points only to have Donnie Mac steal the game in the 4th quarter and win 10-9. You don't win with FGs as your main offense. That held true yesterday.

dont agree on this point. the team is rallying around garcia, but that doesnt mean they respect him more than mcnabb.

mcnabb is superman. he is so good the rest of the team just counts on him to bail them out. when he's out, they know they have to step up more.
Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd kill you and everyone you cared about!

I think BP might mean the fans in regard to Jeff Garcia commanding more respect and enthusiasm. I think the simplest way to put it is that Jeff is more like Rocky Balboa and McNabb is Apollo Creed. Creed was absolutely the better fighter.

                Anyway...

Good points and it will be a travesty that Brian Dawkins isn't in the hall of fame but safeties dont often make it.

The officials were terrible. Garcia not getting any roughing the passer penalties is like the anti-Michael Jordan rule.

sf, i almost made the Balboa/Creed analogy earllier......

BP, I have been singing Bucky's praises as well. he has looked better and better this year, and I think he is ready to be a MAJOR contributor at this point. The injuries are not even on my radar any more.

As for LJ, he ALMOST dropped a very easy catch there. He beter tahnk his lucky starts that he was able to pull that one in, or he would have been lynched.

As for Garcia, I DO see evidence that the players are fighting harder around him, and are more focused. You can credit that to HIM, or you can credit it to the do-or-die situation we are in. The fact is, these guys are not mailing it in and calling it a lost season, and that's all that really matters.

Oh, and BTW, BP......don't you go starting to get all positive now. Keep your predictions in check.

The Cowboys are gonna destroy us.

Amen to this, we should pick up vanderjagt before the cowboys game and give him a shot at vengance, If Akers can't kick because Koy isn't here then something needs to be done, This is very irritating
