  • Pats almost took Kolb with 1str round pick #28???

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/si_...k-donovan.html

My last post was a deplicate so I hope this isnt too...

It is a good read... it says the Pats were very high on Kolb and almost took him before trading away their pick to SF

Also, the ?Jags? had Kolb as their 12th nest player on their board

Everyone who blasts the pick as bad for taking Kolb "too early" is silly... it seems that he may have not been around for our 2nd pick in the 2nd round....

plus if the Pats and Eagles both want him, that says something..

    Thanks for the link.

There is alot of speculation in that article. Regarding the Jags, " NFL Network's Adam Schefter reported one team -- my guess is the Jaguars", and "One source close to Kolb told me the Patriots."

The writer of the article speculates that it was the Jaguars, without having adding anything further. Secondly, the source close to Kolb (read: his agent) leaves me asking further questions. I would speculate that his agent was doing his job in creating more interest, or the illusion of, so that his client would go higher in the draft.

Granted, the guy was a good quarterback in college, but I still have to take a wait and see.

Miami was a candidate to take Brady Quinn at the 9th spot. Saying that New England was a candidate is irrelevant. If the Pats wanted him at 28, they would have taken him. They passed, so the writer is creating a non-story.

BTW, further in the article, the same writer claims that "The only receiver that has really jelled with McNabb as a No. 1 receiver is Terrell Owens".

I wouldn't really say that they "jelled". Owens and McNabb's combined talent accounted for their success. If they truly jelled, this could have been one of the best qb-wr duos in recent history.
