I am pretty surprised by this move...because he failed a physical? Do they have more information now then they did when he signed? How did he pass a physical then? Why cut him now before TC? Was he unable to play at all during the minis and OTAs?
This may be a vote of confidence for Bloom although it is too early for any conclusions IMO...
Eliminate distractions, create energy, fear nothing, and attack everything.

It is suprising and I would like to read it as a vote of confidence in Bloom but I also think they probably have another option going. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the rookies or UDFA's has impresssed them enough to know they want to try him out in the return game. Pure speculation but there would be no reason not have the extra competetion at that position in case Bloom gets re injured or just doesn't work out. Maybe Moats will be given a shot to compete as a return guy.
They signed Johnson with an injury at the time. It looks as though it hasn't healed as he's been unable to participate in any of the off-season workouts so I'd figure the Eagles have said time to move on.

Maybe the Eagles simply don't think he'll be healthy enough to help them this year, so why keep him around?

If releasing him now is cheaper than yea, I know the website says he has a stress fracture in his leg so it would make sense if you don't feel he will recover.

I've had stress fractures in my shins, they're not fun but sure you recover from them...my guess is, the Eagles are looking at the timeline...he's not Marvin Harrison, and the upside of waiting for him to heal while we have other WR's on the roster practicing just isn't enough.
"Philly fans are great....It's the only place where you pull up on the bus and you've got the grandfather, the grandmother, the kids and the grandkids - everybody flicking you off. At other stadiums, they give you the thumbs-down. Here, they give you the middle finger.”

Personally I don't mind seeing him go in the least. I concur the birds will be fine there and that his leg probably hasn't healed as they had hoped it would, that is why being cut now.
Even if healthy I don't think he had much going for him and injured I can't see him at all---especially considering there are other younger players to look at
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
Hope is not a strategy
