  • OT:All Right I'm Calling you all out, one by one 1st MD!

Even after a couple years on this board and some time on the old one as well, I don't know all of you bums and certainly not much about you except for the Cigar Boys Club venture. :P

So I'm calling out MD to step up and be the first to tell us a bit about who he is. You know the usual stuff, how old, where you live, grew up, why you're an Eagles fan, since when, what you do, married and kids etc. I guess I'm looking for a profile so I can flesh out the voices I hear here. A photo would be a great addition too.

When you're done MD, if you accept this assignment,....name the next turkey to step up and so on and so on before the tape burns up of course.

What's Myspace? The corner you retreat to to puff the good stuff?

Maybe MD will reply by just wiping out my post. Not a problem for me.

I admit I have heard of it however, I have never looked at it even once. I have never had any reason to go there. I was exaggerating in order to bong you on the subject.

Re: OT:All Right I'm Calling you all out, one by one 1st MD!

Hmmm, I go away for a couple of days and the first thing I know when I get back is that I'm being called out in public ...... LOL.

I have no problem with your request FD, if there are objections please voice them, but I see nothing wrong with Dutchies request.

Most here know my story, I've been around several boards with the same moniker since 1999.

I'm retired, since ... you guessed it... 1999.

Better do this in order I guess............

Born 1948-- Yes I'll hit the big 6-0 this year.

Born and raised in South Jersey, a little town called Westville, in between Gloucester and Woodbury. The street I lived on is directly across the Delaware River from the Sports complex --- you could/can see it from my house and on a nice quiet day you could hear the crowds at times. Of course before the Vet I had to walk across town, catch the bus to Camden, take the El to City Hall in Philly, catch a new train to 16th(??) and Lehigh and then walk from there to Connie Mack on 21st.

Grew up a 4 team sports fan, Saw Wilt play, many times, listened to his 100 point game on a small crystal radio in my bedroom. Watched the Flyers at the Spectrum back when they used to give tickets away--- yup free-- predicted that the roof was not right ----- and within days it blew off.

My heroes were Wilt, Paul Arizin, Tom Gola, Billy Cunningham, Bobby Jones and Moses "444" Malone and of course Dr J and Charles the round mound of Rebound.

Both Hockey and Basketball lost/lessened my interest over the years, I still follow, but without the hunger or passion -- only due to how I have seen the games change.

Of course my passion still runs pretty deep for the Phils and the Birds............

My hero's growing up where Whitey Ashburn, Robin Roberts and Johnny Callison,,,, Steve Carlton and of course Michael Jack Schmidt. I saw the first Houston playoff game and the first game of the World series in 1980 -- I still think this is my greatest in person event thrill. And the parade was an all time high point also. Had a 1 year contract (basically a handshake) to play Baseball for the Phillies (below AAA, hell below BBB level, LOL) in a three county league -- couldn't hit a curve to save my ass, but I had a nice little glove at 2nd.

Football Tommy Mcdonald, Maxie Baughan, #60,Tom Brookshier, Timmy Brown, Don Burroughs, Bobby Walston, Pete Retzlaff, Bill Bergy, Harold "#17" Carmichael, and Jaws along with Wilbert "#23" Montgomery -- Had Reggie White and Jerome on there but I took both off due to their personal weaknesses.

Went to Woodbury High, attended Pierce Business School and The Wharton School for a while, did not finish (hated school) and then did my countries bidding for a tour in Vietnam. Wish we would have gotten the same kind of treatment/reception the boys/girls of Iraq get today.

Married in June of 73, to my still current lovely wife and best friend, YUP that's 35 years this June 23rd............... can't believe she still is still hanging around with me ---- she could have done much better. Some of you guys have met her, and can't understand why she is still with me.

Had 2 kids -- boy in 79, many of you guys have met him, Andy, and a daughter, also whom some of you have met, Joanna, in 84, both I'm proud to say have done well, finished college and I now have my first grandchild Emily, born Aug of 07. Both kids are avid Phillies and Eagles fans and I'm doing my best to see to it that Emily is also.

Took a job in "finance" in 74, knew nothing about it at the time, but Uncle Sam would pay me OJT at the time --- in addition to my pay........... for 2 years. So not being totally brain dead (from Vietnam and the "sixties") I did take the job and spent the next 25 years learning about it ..... only because one of the perks was that I could retire with full benefits at age 50 --- that was my goal --- and I achieved it as I retired before my 51st B-Day in 1999.

My wife retired in 2004 after 31 years of being a master teacher at the ripe old age of 52.

I still do some consulting work and act as a settlement/loan closing agent -- very Part Time -- just to earn enough to do my traveling and my many AC trips.

Over the years I have had season tix to all 4 teams at one time or another, but as I got older and the family obligations grew and the distance I had to go, I eventually gave them all up.

I have discovered (last 25 years or so) that frankly I prefer my Football on TV and my Baseball in person, so therefore while I go up to about 10/15 Phils games every year I only go up occasionally to see my Birds.

As you all know also I try to stay/be positive because frankly being the opposite makes no sense to me.

Having lived and seen and paid mucho money on some of the worst football in the history of the game--- I can recognize and appreciate the good times we have had lately, I just wish everyone could understand that.

I have met in person many of the people on this board (and the "other" board as well), and for the most part I think it's a great group of guys ---- and as I have always said----I have learned much from this board and this group of people.

Well that's my saga....................... anything else anybody wants to know just ask...........

I pick Saratoga to go next.............. and I have no idea why!

But I like the idea, Dutch. Hell, it's the offseason, might as well learn SOMETHING. (And Lief, you're just being a dookie-head! )

Re: OT:All Right I'm Calling you all out, one by one 1st MD!

I knew that was coming. Thankfully, it's a slow day at work.

I'll follow MD's format, but I'll keep it about 20 years shorter. :P

I started the message board thing on the Philly.com board a few months to a year before the migration to Philaphans. My first post ever, I unwittingly made a comment in the middle of a flame war between two others. I didn't know this and thought that they were both "yelling" at me for two days before I realized what was going on. I pretty much stick to this board cause I don't have a lot of time for this kind of thing.

Born in '66 and raised in and around Allentown. I've been out of state since '79, but all Philly teams still have my devotion.
Eagles football is my biggest sporting passion.

My favorite players were all the usual suspects: Schmidt, Carlton, Dr J, Bill Bergey, Bobby Clarke etc.
My all time favorite player is Dawkins. He was the first player jersey I ever bought. I wanted a white one, so when Westy signed his long term deal, I bought one of his.

When I was younger, I liked the Steelers, most likely cause they were in the SB frequently, and I started my hatred of the Cowboys. But since the Eagles were on every week, and my Dad liked them, I started to follow them. I have vague memories of the McCormack years, but really started to get into football in Vermeil's second season.

I've been to two Eagles games: 11/22/00 hosting Chicago and 12/01/02 hosting the Rams (AJ Feeley game). I'm 2-0 baby!!!
I want to see at least one game at the Linc, but have been unable to get tickets since it opened. I made one game at CBP in 06 and really loved it. Well, except for Endy Chavez striking out with men on to end the game.

I've got a wonderful wife and three great kids: 6, 2, and 6 months. Working to make them all Eagles fans, though I'm not sure why I'm setting them up for a life of torment.

I work for the third biggest printer of magazines and catalogs in North America, and have lived in the Albany/Saratoga region since '82.

I spent three years in the Army from '84-87, and for some reason cannot give blood to the ARC since I spent 1.5 years in Germany. This aggravates me.

                        Next is Green With Envy.
