Guys, I think something is afoot with McNabb and the front office.

Spadaro is defending the lack of a running game in a way I've never seen. He just yelled at a caller saying there are no holes and this line can't run block. The problem - according to Spadaro - is that McNabb turned the ball over 4 times and never got in a groove.

He just told a caller that they have a new QB in Atlanta and they aren't "taking their lumps" down there.

Reid and MM are scrambling to place blame on Donovan right now.... that much is clear.

It is his team and he is the leader he is the QB and if they are going to climb out of this he has to make the plays.

Spadaro - they are getting their ASSES kicked up front in the run game.

How is McNabb supposed to move the ball into a 25 mph wind effectively without a running game. He is not.

Spadaro has been coached to lay this at the feet of McNabb.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

This is why I can't take Spadaro seriously about anything.

Who gives a fuck what his opinion is since he's just a crony.

How can ANYONE defend the running game.

      classic CYA

It makes sense that McNabb would be the fall guy.
      1. His successor is here.
      2. McNabb's contract is huge.
      3. Lurie will give Reid the benefit of doubt for awhile.
      4. A vocal minority of fans have wanted Donnie gone for some time now.

The question will be: What if Kolb comes in and a year and a half later nothing is any better?

I would rather say that this is a failure of Reid's leadership which I've been stating since they cut Garcia loose rather than make the more difficult decision to keep him as the starter for one more year. Andy just doesn't have it. The emperor is naked, and boy is he ugly.

The QB stunk yesterday, for once he is the guy that should be in the cross hairs. If he doesn't turn the ball over we win the game 24-10.

This was McNabb last year at the helm of the Eagles no matter what. Kolb will be the QB next year. Mcnabb will be a Viking next year, he will get dealt there for a 3rd round pick (see Steve McNair trade with Baltimore for value)

Reid's gone at that point, if he wasn't already gone at the end of Kolb's first season. Kolb will get a grace period for his first season whether the Eagles' actual record improves or not -- Troy Aikman went 1-15 his first year, after all, and even the most hardened Eagles fans know that Kolb's got a learning curve to deal with. After that, the length of Kolb's grace period will depend on whether or not the Eagles appear to be improving. But Lurie won't tolerate 4 non-winning seasons from Reid in five years (2005, 2007, 2008?? and 2009).

McNabb should be called on the carpet. He was horrible yesterday. Obviously a running game, or at least an attempt at one, could help. But regardless, two bad picks and a fumble and other missed receivers.

That said, if this team doesn't make the playoffs, which I am still not counting out, I would much prefer to see McNabb stay (thinking his play will be more like the rest of the season as opposed to yesterday) and see Andy go upstairs permanently and see a new HC with a new identity....preferably one who likes to run the ball and see what McNabb, West and this core of WRs can do with that.

            On to the Ravens....

I can honestly say that if Kolb played yesterday, we might have won, that is how bad Mcnabb was. If Kolb just managed the game and took FG's and took a few minutes off the clock they would have won that game..I wonder if Spads is permitted to say anything about the coaching staff..

If Kolb had played yesterday we would have got killed. Yesterday was Reid's fault no matter how McNabb played. You don't throw a guy out there and have him pass 58 times with no running game. Bucky looked good but found himself on the bench for looking good I guess.

Yes McNabb had a bad day but he was sent out their to have a bad day by his coach. Kolb coming in will do nothing. If it does anything we will get worse until Reid is fired . We can't win with this pathetic offense.

                  Re: Watching Eagles Live

I think it is foolish to believe that Kolb would have played worse than McNabb yesterday. The Bengals have no pass rush. All we needed was an accurate passer who could manage that game and we win. McNabb was horrible. He threw so many passes over and behind receivers it was laughable. He even badly missed a wide open Westy with running room on a little dump-off route. IIIIII could have made that pass. Could Kolb have actually been worse??? I doubt it.

It was a bad day for McNabb. But his coaching staff didn't do much to help him out, and McNabb's supporting cast besides perhaps Desean, Runyan and Bucky looked geenrally disinterested in trying to make a play. There are so many signs of a disfuntional team right now, that it is thoroughly depressing. Ability, attitude, coaching, EVERYTHING can be brought into question at this point.

                    Re: Watching Eagles Live

i completely agree with the last couple posts about kolb. honestly, the running game was trash yesterday, but mcnabb was more than pathetic. he's lucky he didn't throw 6 picks yesterday. kolb could not have played any worse.

look, i'm not going to put myself entirely in kksb's camp here. because kksb, i do not agree with everything you write, but i do agree here that mcnabb's time is done in philly. he could very well be successful somewhere else, and i wish him luck, but the guy does not step up under pressure (anymore that is).

when mcnabb was young (back in 2000-2003) i remember several come from behind victories with the likes of darnell autry, stanley pritchett, charles johnson and torrance small. i thought we'd have to start keeping track of those come-from-behind wins b/c it seemed like he was racking them up. but recently he's been awful. and what i saw yesterday was an offensive line that as much as they sucked in run blocking, play pretty well on the pass-blocking side. and he was atrocious. yesterday's game was huge, and he came up small.

as far as i'm concerned, reid can go and take all the coaches and mcnabb with him. to win 10 games, you have to have really good players, especially at QB. but if you eventually want to hoist the lombardi trophy, you sure as hell better have players (especially at QB) that THRIVE under pressure.

As opposed to the gaggers that we have now on the receiving end of number 5's passes. Again I say congratulations to our receiving core that retook the lead for the most dropped passes in the NFL.

I've jusg finished watching the first 15 minutes or so of Eagles live.....and my God, Spads is KILLING McNabb! Saying McNabb had plenty of time and is missing wide open receivers all over the field. Not being able to run the ball doesnt take away from the fact that Donovan stunk. He's talking like Kolb deserves to get on he field, he lists a bunch of other QBs around the league ( Including Favre) that show leadership and who's teams believe in them. Then goes on to say the the team believed in Garcia.....man, it's just a McNabb slamfest.

Honestly, I don't know that I can argue that much of what he is saying, but I just can't believe I am hearing it from Spads. Say goodbye to McNabb if we lose next week. Thru SPads, the FO is preparing us for a final finish with Kolb this season, or at least for next year.

It looks as if the front office has given Spadaro the directive of negative spin control in regards to McNabb.

I think Kolb could start as early as Thanksgiving.

                            Re: Watching Eagles Live

I have to wonder if McNabb is injured again. He usually only plays this bad when he is trying to play through an injury that he shouldn't be playing through. I suspect his chest contusion is a lot worse than most people think. Trying to work through a lot of pain would explain why it took him a quarter to get accurate. And by playing with it, it might have gotten worse instead of better.

I just don't see how he could have played like he did yesterday if he wasn't injured.

I also think Westbrook is trying to play through injuries that make him close to useless. At this point, Buckhalter could have given us a lot more than Westbrook has. With his ankle injury, he can't make anyone miss. Right now, Reno Mahe could maneuver better than Westbrook can.

I agree he sucked ass big time. I've busted on him for a long time for throwing over, under, behind, etc but I will also bust on the coaching staff for throwing 58 times when he was sucking. How about going full bore into your run game (even though it wasn't the greatest) when your QB is sucking. Much like letting Winston Justice get his ass handed to him with little help they let DMac get his ass handed to him.
